"IFmove" coming soon! (20 inch, multi-speed version of the iFmode)

Last week, the "Section Zero" special division of Pacific Cycles released a teaser video of their new bike called IFmode.

It's basically a 20 inch wheel, multi-speed (more than 2 speeds) version of the awesome iFmode bike!

Today, Michael Lin from Pacific Cycles posted a few pictures on Facebook of the first batch of IFmove bikes produced. The IFmove is supposed to be available for purchase in March of this year. Michael Lin also posted the following comment on Facebook: "After Taipei show this year, you can get in Asia about 10 countries. For sure, Taiwan will be the first.".

Now for some eye candy...

New Pacific Bike Coming Soon March 2013 (code name: IFmove) (Posted to YouTube by Pacific Cycles)
Published on Jan 29, 2013
The IFmove is more than just a folding bike, a commuter or a city bike; it's a user friendly solution for the urban environment.

Because usability is its highest priority, this bike rides, folds and wheels fast and instinctively - without compromising in performance or handling. In less than 2 seconds, the IFmove transforms into a convenient package, weighing no more than 10kg!

By re-thinking standards, the design of the bike communicates simplicity and invites users to ride and show it (off). To get moving and move on.

As the urban landscape changes, so can bicycles - that's why the IFmove was created.

I have no clue? Everything I know about this new IF model bike is in my post above. I only have found those couple of YouTube videos and also saw Michael Lin's Facebook posts.

Actually, his Facebook posts are how I found out about this. I follow a few Birdy Folding Bike Facebook pages, and someone from one of those pages posted up Michael's pics. I then found Michael's Facebook page and from there, I found the videos.

I can't find any more info online, and the Pacific Cycles site doesn't have any info on this new IFmove model either!? If anyone has more info, please post up in this thread.

What can you do for luggage on this bike, apart from a seatpost mounted rack or trailer?

all of pacific's bikes are nicely designed, but their best bike is still the carryme. and, it gets better every year.

Not much really, but then again, it's not exactly designed for touring.

I want one, but with belt drive, mudguards and... NuVinci N360, Shimano Alfine or other IGH. Is it possible?

I think you need to carry luggage for more than just touring. Do`nt you?

Cool bike, just not sure how useful it is.

Sure, you won't even have to lace up a wheel for that bike. Just glue non inflatable tires directly onto the hub.

CarryMe is one of does bikes that no matter how much you tell people its AWESOME, people will not believe you, until they try it!

I have quite a few bikes, but 99% of the time use the CarryMe, its that awesome!

iF move

I happen to have a beta version of the iFmove with me for the next week or so, its not the final version but quite close.

Handling is superb, like HumanAmplifier mentioned, its deceiving to the eye, but expect nothing else from a company that has built so many different bikes over the past 40 years. Handling is one of the only compromises Pacific is not willing to compromise on.

Frame built quality, the finish is awesome, you can tell loads of caring work both in the computer and in the welding table, props to "section zero" design team.

here is a pic:

ASK-ME-ANYTHING, if I know the answer I will give it to you, I dont know what the price will be, but it will be more competitive than the iF Mode.

Hi, do you know when Pacific plan to sell it in Europe? Release date is March 20 at Taipei, will it be released also in Europe or we have to wait?

Could you describe or post detailed pictures of the handlebar folding mechanism, I;ve seen a video on youtube and it is different from the If Mode, I would like to better understand how it works and if it will be more stable than the If Mode.

Thanks!

That weight limit is out of date, the current weight limit is 100kg for both iF Mode and iFmove.

Fudge Cycles Store (London) has already placed a pre-order and will be the first one to have it in stock, hopefully not much later than in Taiwan!

Handlebar folding mechanism is in my opinion the best one I've seen.

It has the same quick to fold push-button as the original iF Mode designed by Mark Sanders but they have added an extra open-close mechanism that makes the handlebar feel as stiff as a solid non folding.

Great! I've bought my If Mode from Fudge Cycle so I would be happy to buy this new beauty! Just I hope the price is more competitive!

Also I noticed that the paint on If Mode (black one) was very weak, it is really easy to scratch it and this is not good for a folding bike you've to carry with you. Could you give a feedback on the paint of the ifmove? Is that better?

The price will be more competitive, the iF Mode has a lot of costly custom parts on it that are very difficult to engineer, the iFmove uses more standard parts, although design wise its just as challenging! looking at the rear alone the amount of design work that the Section Zero team has done is impressive, I dont know any other bike that managed to get the brake disk and gears in the same side of the fork! and the hubs are just as badass. I dont know what the final paint will be, but because of the amount of straight edges on the bike its always going to need some touching up, you get a touchup paint with every bike we make.

Yeah, I see, I'm a mechanical engineer and I'm able to understand the hard work under this piece of beauty both designing and making of the parts. I consider George Lin like Enzo Ferrari and Pacific Cycle industry as the Ferrari of bikes.

I have just one folding bike (Dahon) that I really don't fold much.

Now I want two more folders, a Carryme and the upcoming IFmove

Looks like a pretty sick bike, fast fold and light weight. Will definitely be checking it out at the bike show next month. And if the price is reasonable, I just might make a purchase... But I seriously doubt it'll be cheaper than my Tern Verge Duo.

One glaring weakness I see with this bike is that when it's in rolling mode, there's no way to set it down on the ground. That's actually a major annoyance I have with my Tern. When I'm rolling it, there's no way to put it down for a quick moment. I need to release the seatpost QR, lower the seat post, close the QR, then set it down. And when I want to roll it again, I need to repeat the process in reverse. It gets very annoying.

I know exactly what you mean! I am sure a kickstand similar to iF Mode will be developed, this allows the bike to be put down very easily and quickly, here is a video by David from Bfold that shows it in action (skip halfway):

Hi, could you tell us what is the shifter mounted on the bike? How many gears are there? How many teeth has the chainwheel?

Thanks
