Does anyone know where I can buy an extra Dahon stem nut? It happens to be exactly the right size I need for a seatpost clamp rack attachment.

Without first looking at my Dahon I would say that is just a nut you`ll find on any seatpost quickrelease?

Never mind. I did some testing and it turns out I can't get enough torque with just a thumb nut.

Thanks for the lead. I'll keep that in mind if I ever lose that nut. I also found suitable replacements at McMaster-Carr.

The nut is ment to be used with a quickrelease. If you try to use it with an allen bolt or similar it may be difficult tightening it. If you use it witha a quickrelease and the torque is not enough (assuming you use the quickrelease the right way) then you may not have the right size clamp (or seatpost).

Yep, I was trying to use the nut with a modified, non-quick release seatclamp to add rack mount eyelets to my seatpost. This is in addition to the normal quick-release seatclamp. The reason for the thumb nut was so that I could drop the seatpost without using a hex key. Not being able to use one isn't a huge deal because I always have a hex key on me or stashed in the places I'll be folding or unfolding.

The thumb nut would have been on the other side of the Salsa clamp as pictured.
