Not sure if this qualifies as "in the wild" but it does answer another thread....

Further studies has revealed that salvae viginti has an ability that has been observed but never photographed... until now there has been no evidence to support the theory that this elusive folder can indeed, change colour.
As you can see here the plumage is bright as it stands besides a domesticated viginti raleigh, the sideways posture and tilt of the horns is indicative of some kind of dominance display and were this mating season it would be far too dangerous to get this close. http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikep...gone%20(4).JPG With the use of special night equipment we were able to see where this same salvae viginti had changed it's colour to better blend into the night... http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikep...t600%20(2).JPG The department of folding studies has applied to have the name changed to salvae viginti chamćleon to reflect this new research. The catch and release program is also going well, this little viginti raleigh was recently re-introduced back into the wild and you can see it here sunning itself... they have such little fear of humans that they will stand like this all day unless you disturb them. http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikep...ie20%20(2).JPG |
