I would be interested in how well the Brompton does this winter and whether those tires are good mostly for ice or snow, and how much snow. What we get here, where roads are salted, is churned up salt and snow which defeats my Schwalbes, although 700 c.

Love the grips. How often do you use the inner chainring?

Thanks. I can not use the inner chainring till now as I don't have a front derailleur.

You can always use the 'greasy finger' method...

foldingdroid 12-16-16 03:07 AM

Yeah, why not. :) Abu, I have ordered the Shimano Zee rear derailleur etc., but still waiting for delivery since past 16 days. Bike24 Germany to Dubai.

Abu Mahendra 12-16-16 03:32 AM

Yeah, i was wondering about that...let us know how it goes...

@pinholecam - Great pic, where is this?

Also love birdy's - to me they always look like they are about to leap forward!

You can push it in to the inner chain ring with your foot.
Which is OK for hills only need greasy finger to change up again

I've learned to luv these for just such an occasion: https://www.amazon.com/nitrile-glove...&node=15755331

You should be able to find them in your location. Definitely worth carrying with you.

Enough of these fair weather and tropical scenes. Trying for winter around here, 30 degrees F (-1 C) and started to snow as I began my ride on my 2006ish Reach Offroad. I'm using it to help exercise my dog using a Walky Dog attachment bolted to one of the Reach seat tube rack mounts. Pretty rural here so traffic isn't an issue.

Still snowing a few hours later so that should make tomorrow's ride interesting...

Thank you. I can fit 2 or more of this in my small saddle bag. :thumb:

Went for a ride with the dog and me on the Pacific Reach Offroad and my wife on her Downtube VIIIH. Both bikes are about a decade old. Drove up to Port Townsend and then road the first portion of the Larry Scott Trail, a nice rails-to-trails conversion that is in the process of being linked to a trail system that will cross the state of Washington in the northern portion of the state. Right now is is the eastern end of the Olympic Discovery Trail.

My dog and I run/ride every day with him attached to my Reach with a Walky Dog. My Wife is just starting to ride again... Cascade mountains, Widbey and Indian islands in the background. One ferry west of Seattle...

Looking north at Port Townsend and the Boat Haven marina and shipyard. The Larry Scott Trail is in the foreground.

Do you know that here in Australia's nanny state attaching your dog to your bike is illegal?

Silly.

Not sure if it is actually legal to ride with attached dog on public roads here, but I have been passed by Washington State Patrol cars twice so far without them even slowing down. I live in a rural area and only see a few cars per mile on most days.
