If you mean 'garden hose tap', then those are nearly always brass taps with a spindle handle in the UK. It's probably because our garden water supply is usually at mains pressure whereas I think gate valves are only used for low pressure.
Or you could even get it chromed!

yup, Asia is a hot bed of aftermarket Brompton pieces ..
so far none are making a Titanium
