Having fit fitting Big Apples on Boardwalk
I've changed plenty of tires but these 20x2" Big Apples with Schwalbe 20x 1.5-2.5" tubes aren't wanting to fit well on stock Dahon Boardwalk rims that had 20x1.5" Kenda's. One area will be low, the bead not coming up enough, as though the diameter of the tire bead is less than the rim. If I reduce pressure and work it out it just moves around the rim. Anyone run into this, tricks? Thanks

Are the rims definitely 405s ?
I also had problems with a bead coming up properly before I realised the rim had a kink/was slightly out of true.
On another I found that fitting the tyre then half inflating it and the rolling it under a little weight it eventually seated into the rim properly when I then pumped it up to pressure and rode it a little.
Also check your tube is not snagging or that the bead is getting caught on the rim tape/or the rim tape is too high up the inner rim wall.
PS I am about to try the same Big Apples on my new Dahon Uno. I am using Kojaks which are ok if you deflate them a little but Big Apples work better at lower pressures than the Kojaks and certainly give a ultra comfortable suspended ride.

Jerry, thanks for your advice. I trimmed down the original rim strips with no joy. Pumped up a little, dripped soapy water on the low spots and inflated to 60 lb. It seated perfectly. Why didn't I think of that sooner. At any rate they get a tryout later today when it warms up.

Glad you got it sorted Richard. I am really enjoying the UNO even though it was a bit of an impulse buy. Many of my small wheeled bikes have been lol. I have purchased/tried quite a few small wheeled bikes and I would rate this joint second with my Swift. Both probably ride better than the Brompton, but my Brompton is still my go to bike when I know I have to take it into pubs, restaurants or shops.
I would have to say though the Uno is not far behind and I am quite impressed with how small it folds for a 20" wheeled bike.
