This 5 Speed Rear Hub for Brompton ?
While randomly searching for upgrades for my Brompton I came across this eBay listing for a "5 speed wheel set [for] Brompton".
Because that listing will expire, here is their technical data copied & pasted:
"16 x1 3/8" (349) Brompton fit light weight 5-speed Wheel set
SA wide range hub → 10-speed possible
Front wheel:
Weight: 375g
16 x 1 3/8" WO-349 double walled narrow rim fit tyre size 32-349
Rim color: Black
CNC machined braking surface
Outer rim width 19mm
Rim depth 20mm
Presta valve-hole
14G stainless spokes with alloy nipples
Over Locknut Dimension - 74mm
2x sealed bearing (made in Japan)
Include front quick-release skewer
Rear Wheel:
Weight: 1430g
16 x 1 3/8" WO-349 double walled narrow rim fit tyre size 32-349
Rim color: Black
CNC machined braking surface
Outer rim width 19mm
Rim depth 20mm
Presta valve-hole
14G stainless spokes with alloy nipples
Sturmey Archer 5 speed hub
Wide range for 9-spline sprockets
1x 14T 3/32" sprocket
1x 16T 3/32" sprocket
Axle Length - 148mm
Over Locknut Dimension - 111mm
SLS50-T thumb shifter
Include cable and mounting hardware
No include tyres"
I don't have the technical expertise to know if their claim is valid regarding this working for a Brompton (a 2013 6 speed), thus my following questions.
1. Will this Sturmy Archer 5 speed rear hub work on my Brompton?
2. Would it be a drop-in type install, or require minor or major modifications to the bike?
3. Would a fairly handy guy be able to do it, or would it be an expert-only job?
4. I understand, of course, that it would change my Brompton from a 6 speed to a 10 speed, but would it give a "lower lowest" final drive, or a "higher highest" gear, or both, or neither because the ratios are more closely spaced?
I would love to have more speeds for my Brompton because I would like to have both a higher high and a lower low. If I can have only one or the other, I'd rather have a lower low. I'm happy with the current spacing between gears.
Thoughts?

S-A does make a 28 hole narrow 5 speed hub, and the driver is the type they use on the BWR.
So a wheel certainly can be built around that.. I Suppose the same spokes fit
The 2nd, 3rd and 4th are like the BSR 3 speed .75,1,1.33 1st and 5th added ..

Yes,those wheels will work. I actually considered these, but I've read of people having issues with the 5spd hub. Between that and the weight gain,I decided against it.

I installed 2 such ones on the Bromptons at home. One worked as-is, the 2nd one was slightly tricky as the older frames have different hub shapes, so the anti - rotation washers did not work. I used the older 3-sp wheels washers. The shifters are a bother. They stick out squarely and interfere with the fold unless rotated out of the way. Even then they stick out up above the bars. I modded mine to be able to go below the bar. Once I sorted that out it was fine.
