vector...... used to be 1200 dlr bike .... its a steal ... frame is nicer than the mu, components the same .... if budget allows get a set of lightweight pro wheels or carbon look wheels and you have a rocket ship

Thanks, man. I think I'm ready to take the plunge. I'd probably hold off on any mods for a while but if you could recommend a particular pair of rims i'd appreciate it.

I can by a used speed p8 (red) today for $500. I love the classic frame design and color and I'm sure I can switch out parts over time to make it lighter. Is this a fair price for a used p8? I offered 400 initially but he rejected my offer and said he was getting offers as high as 470. Should manufacturer date matter when considering what I should be willing to pay for this bike?

A new red Speed P8 should be ~$699, IF a dealer has one in stock. See:
https://www.thorusa.com/dahon/current/speedp8.htm

The earlier red Speed P8 models do not have the frame-integrated KlickFix adapter.
Confirm whether the stem has been replaced, if applicable. See:

To be honest I like the black and white color way a little more than the black and red. However the verge p9 in black and red is a lot sexier than the vector p9 in black and red.
