Just bought a used Strida 5.0
Hi! I never planned to have much reason to hang out here in the folding bike section, but I just impulsively bought a Strida after seeing it priced pretty low on CL.
The girl said she purchased it online a few years ago thinking it would be a great idea, but she couldn't get the hang of cycling on it the first time out, and it was just taking up space since. I believe her. The price was too good to pass up although I'm not really sure how useful it will be to me.
It does seem really bulky when folded, but it is certainly easier to transport by car than my omafiets. For me it is too heavy to plan any use with the subway or anything. (I am strong but fatigue easily due to a health problem.) It does roll nicely, so I guess people looking for a folder would be happy enough.
I'm still impressed with the design.
It was awkward, but I picked up on riding right away. She said I did far better than she ever managed.
My biggest two issues with it are rather personal problems: I'll have to wear trousers to ride it, and it isn't for hauling stuff. I dislike trousers and have only a few pair. Changing my style to ride a bike is an annoying thought, honestly. The cargo part isn't as much of an issue, but I a, used to packing a bunch of stuff for outings even when I am not going for groceries. The style thing is rather silly, and I'll adapt in order to easily cart the Strida to a trail, but it will somewhat limit my usage of it to very specific trips.
So, I guess this is a sort of review. I'm excited about my new bike!
It is orange and funky.
Other than that, eventually I'd like to put a sprung Brooks on it if possible. The current saddle will work until I want to fork over the money, but it isn't comfortable. Also, I want to add a kickstand.
The front brake needs a bit of attention. I never had disc brakes before, and it is making a scuffing sound and brakes less well than the other. I have to look into that.

I have the brakes working nicely, and I raised the seat. I'm beginning to like this bike a lot!
(Except the saddle. Ouch.)

I love upright Omafiets (and Opafiets)
Strida riding position is probably nearest of all folders to these. Got the manual with it ? > https://www.strida.com/en/download/
