Having ridden a Strida, Dahon Mantis, and Brompton; I think a 16" minivelo might be acceptable to ride. https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/i...FUkW7BwdJGFabA http://www.riverone.jp/images/Minive...om_byUser1.jpg http://blog-imgs-45.fc2.com/p/u/k/pukuru88/DSC01227.jpg http://blogs.c.yimg.jp/res/blog-f2-6...0_m?1434890806 http://blogimg.goo.ne.jp/user_image/...e9232dd55a.jpg http://blogimg.goo.ne.jp/user_image/...a98e8f3874.jpg charming bikes but, i think the 349mm wheel size is more optimal for a compact mini. i've had this idea for quite awhile for a 349mm sprinter style bike. i'm talking to a frame builder about having this fabricated. make sure it is surakarta batik. yogya's is too staid, and pekalongan's and cirebon's too garish.

I love those Beat Moons; never seen them before.
I found this 16" bike, WCI Speeder. Not sure if it is a kids bike or if they are still sold since I have never seen one at a store or bicycle show. Proportions look like an adult can ride it. http://www.bikelabth.com/album/produ...ccf1ef0f49.jpg **********?? ???? speeder **********??? ********************? - ThaiMTB.com - **********?? |

I think some enterprising people must take all the old bikes from Japan and dump them in Thailand because I see many old and weird ones for sale on Kaidee.com and Thaimtb.com
If you search for wheel size and keywords like: mini, 12, 16, 20, folding... all sorts of interesting folders and minivelos result. I don't feel like hosting photos so here are some recent links. bike.gang.uk posted about this bike a while back, but the more I think about it, the more it becomes a 'bike we like'.
The Caracle 20 from Japan: http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=523806 Unfurled, it could be mistaken for a garden variety 20" Dahon: http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=523807 None of the individual elements seem new: the front of a Dahon Ciao, the back of an Oyama Space Genie, the 'brace against seat post' of the Jifo. |

The ingenious combination of these design elements and some clever geometry yields quite a remarkable bike.
Folded, the Caracle with its 20" wheels is small: http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=523809 How small? It will fit into a 28" suitcase w/o disassembly: http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=523810 It also folds with not only its driveline to the inside, but also its handlebars, protecting those expensive combined brake/index shift levers, and, I suppose, your GPS computer and Spurcycle bell. Kudos to the unknown designer(s)! |

The fellow @ Loopwheels is up in full production. You can buy just the 20" wheels as an upgrade or a turnkey Dahon bike:
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=523813 The hubs are Sturmey-Archer X-RDC and X-FD drums. Don't sell the steak, sell the sizzle: https://youtu.be/P5JPB_kKAg8 It seems like this is the sort of thing ThorUSA would be the US distributor of. :) |

So what do you do to attract the attention of that cute girl at your local South Korean Strida club?
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=523814 Buy the 8.5kg carbon fiber model, of course! http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=523815 |

The carbon Strida looks cool but is a letdown.
A Strida 5 comes in at 10kg and it has a rear rack. So this carbon frame and wheels only saves 1.5kg; I expected more. Since it uses a non standard crankset it would be hard to take off any more weight. STRiDA C1 | STRiDA I watched some videos on the Caracle and it is impressive. It seems to roll easily assuming the magnet is strong enough over rough terrain. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbQ6zMtmBOY This 16" version seems even better for travel although more cumbersome to transform. That US$49.99 bell looks awfully similar to the US$8 bell I got off eBay... http://i.imgur.com/amTGk4Fh.jpg |

As cool as this bike looks; this designer knows nothing about bikes.
I assume it was done by a student that ran out of time to really think if it could work. A drop bar road bike with ~8" front tire and 3" height clearance is my first concern. I see no way for the front tire to actually turn. The tire profile is so flat it can probably only lean 10-15 degrees. You couldn't pedal through a turn or risk a pedal strike. The massively wide, low profile, and small tires would be very slow rolling and warp the rim bead unless they are solid rubber. A 22t chainring with such a small rear tire and short crankarms would have to spin ridiculously fast. The rider's butt is above or even behind the rear tire's contact patch so I think it would wheelie and throw the rider off with an electric motor. The rear fender would allow the rider to get sprayed. You can only brake with your hands at the bottom of the drops and the lever would sever a finger off in a crash. I know it's always easy to criticize any design; but this thing is dangerous in several ways. I give it an A for rendering skills, B for cool factor, and an F- for feasibility. |

new bike from 700bikes - smart folder Galaxy for 540 US$ 700 bikes Galaxy this stem is noteworthy: steering mast and stem in one. http://am.zdmimg.com/201604/06/5704b...7.png_e600.jpg with built-in computer. sweet. http://am.zdmimg.com/201604/06/5704b...6.png_e600.jpg quick-release button inside the latch mechanism is novel. however, i do find that dahonesque turnbuckle triggering and problematic. it gives me flashbacks, tbh. http://am.zdmimg.com/201604/06/5704b...1.png_e600.jpg the custom seatpost and tube are questionable. i wonder if the seattube can properly bind a standard 33.9mm post? IMO, the best designs are always the one's with the fewest and most universal parts with the highest durability to weight ratio. http://am.zdmimg.com/201604/06/5704b...2.png_e600.jpg |
