My new 2013 Dahon Mariner D7

Hello everyone,
I am new here. This is my very first post.

I just purchased my new 2013 Dahon Mariner D7 folding bike from my local bike shop.
They told me it is a 2013 model.
I was really excited about my new bike.
Until I tried to fold it....and that is when I realized that there is no magnetix system...
instead, there is a very weird plastic locking system. Please see the attached picture.

Did Dahon change the locking system?? when did this happen? By the way, the plastic lock is already cracked...
Am I missing something? I thought magnetix system is a great feature for the Dahon bike.

If you have any thought or suggestion on this matter, please please let me know.
Thank you so much.

Hi Thor,
so, have you seen these plastic lock before? I wonder whether and why it is better than the magnetix system.
Thank you so much.

these plastic parts are very unstable. I have only had the bike for two days and one part has already gone missing.

my local bike shop said that they will take care of it. Hopefully, they will put the magetix system for me.

Hmm, it does seem strange that Dahon would switch from their tried-and-true magnetic system to a crummy plastic clip system. Do you know, Thor, is this to do with the Tern settlement, perhaps?
