Dahon Curve D3

There is a remote chance I might be able to sell my Adventure folding bike to a friend who is need of a bike -- remote mind you, and if I do sell the bike, I was thinking about the Dahon Curve D3 later on. I like the idea of a 3-speed internal hub, but what about the 16" wheels and slightly smaller frame than my 20" folder? At 6' 1" tall and weighing in at 204 lbs, would I have a problem riding the Curve D3? Any tall D3 users out there.

Cheers
Wayne

The thing with 16 inch Dahons is the flex in the stem... I'll use the word 'handlepost' as that's official terminology. The handlepost is the same as on 20" bikes but the head tube is lower and therefore the stem must be longer to achieve the same handlebar height. This results in more flex.
Besides that if they're still fitting Big Apple tyres I find them great fun on 16" wheels, and the bike in general is a lot of fun.

Sounds good. Would my height of 6' 1" be a factor do you think?

still got big apples ...at least mine have ..lol
great bike .... the concerns you have might be more in somebodies head that actual riding it. The Curve feels MUCH bigger than the Jifo for example, but it feels smaller than the 20 inchers, not much ..and thats were the headgames start creeping up.
You can look on you tube ..there are several big guys riding the curve and loving it....

Depends how high you like your handlebar and how much you tend to pull on it. For casual riding I doubt it'd be an issue.

Never heard of that word before. Must add it to my limited vocabulary. Pooteling -- well, that be what I'm doing alright.

I remember the days with the road bike. Had to give it up. Leaning over caused me quite a bit of discomfort. I new I had to give it up when I got off the bike and had to walk crunched over for awhile until I could stand up straight. So sitting taller in the saddle is more to my liking -- and my back thinks so too.

Well, can't worry too much with what's in my head, not much there anymore to worry about. I'm not sure if you meant would I be embarrassed? Me -- no, maybe when I was younger, but at my age I couldn't care less. I would even ride a pink bike if I had one. Saw one in the store the other day with flowers all over it. Advertised as a girls bike. My wife saw me looking at it and asked -- "would you ride it"? "Sure I would ride it, why not", I said. "Hey, girls can get away with riding blue bikes and nobody would think anything of it, so why can't us guys ride pink bikes". Like I said, I don't get embarrassed anymore. Hey, do they make a pink D3 by any chance?
