We were notified of this yesterday. IB has scanned the forums and no virus was found. What virus detection software are you using?

That's interesting. I was trying to post a reply to a thread yesterday and the computer locked up for a spell until a message came up saying that it will take awhile before it's completed. I waited -- no posting, but the computer carried on as normal.

If your AV is AVG Free, there have been issues with false virus warnings from them recently. I don't know if it's a glitch in their programming or a scareware marketing tactic to steer you into the paid version at this point, but so far, we are scanning clear. Can you get me a screenshot of the whole screen including any ads, because there is a possibility that there is a malignant ad getting placed by the Adservers, unintentionally. That is the current popular flavor of the month/year delivery system.....infected ads, if it's an HTML or Javascript injection virus. Adserve networks place ads fast enough that we can't necessarily do advance ad clearance and have to rely in the adserver for the safety of the ad, but if we an identify the ad, if this is the case, we an definitely block it. Not many get through the adserver networks security protocols, but some do slip through because of novel code.

That was because the deep scan was consuming bandwidth like a herd of starving hogs.

avg free edition
the thread comes up when I go to the bikeforums page ....No add from AVG to upgrade at all
just the regular thread blocker comes up where you can run the page without action ..or to clean the virus ( recommended) you clean it and the next time you click on a thread it comes up again.. but than cant find the infected file anymore ...

neverhappened anywhere else ...
boggles me mind :-)

Off to the lake and see if I can find some time to ride a bike :-)

Thanks Thor

I(t was a faulty definition set in AVG's database. Please update your AVG Antivirus to the current up to date definition set to fix this problem. It's been happening on multiple vBulletin forums for the past few days. I have this info directly from AVG, by the way. It was a glitch on their end.

Not entirely relevant to the virus issue I think, but having been away from here for about two years or more, I notice that the whole forum is abysmally slow these days. Is it something to do with the premier membership you can buy, and me not having it, or is it an adserver that is cocking up performance?

I have no recollection of frustrating waits for pageloads to happen in previous times of using this forum, but they happen all the time now.

My pageloads are very fast - instantaneous. Also no issue with virus warning.

I usually use a Samsung Chromebook (forget what it is but minimal OS that is not Windows or Mac or Android) or sometimes a Macbook Pro. Very rarely I use connect with a Thinkpad running XP and it is definitely slower.

Haven't noticed issues with loading speed or virus warnings. Running Chrome w/adblocker on a Win7 machine, MS security essentials. My Linux machine is equally fast, Chrome w/adblocker plus.
