I went to my local Performance Bike store this afternoon and saw that they had the Sigma BC 1909 STS computer on sale. Their regular selling price of $119.99 was reduced to $79.99 and on top of that a further discount of 20% national sale bringing the price down to $63.99. I haven't installed it yet, but I'm sure it will work great. I like the fact that it monitors your heart rate with an included chest strap. Just what I was looking for. Anybody use this computer or any similar Sigma product? Comparing the Sigma to the Cateye, I prefer the handlebar bracket better/more secure on the Sigma.

Here's how it works -- it goes for a ride in my car back to the store. You know, whenever I decide to purchase something I spend a great deal of time reviewing the product, especially customer/user reviews. I didn't in this case. Same with the first folding bikes I had purchased a couple of months ago at Campingworld. I didn't bother messing with it last night as I had other things to do, but I spent some time this morning doing what I should have done earlier.

I mentioned that I liked the computer mounting arrangement better because of the salesman's pitch. I did agree with him though, and I do think it is perhaps better than that of the Cateye units, except for one issue. Both the computer and fork sensor mounts use a glue based backing that sticks to the handlebars and front fork. This could be an issue down the road when removing. Because of the high desert heat where I live, I'm concerned that a glue residue will be left behind, and I don't want to deal with the possibility of damaging the paint finish of the bike. Secondly; the part that attaches to the spoke could also present a problem in removal. It comes in two pieces that require a very firm snapping together. Trying to pull those two pieces apart during removal could either bend, or worse, break the spoke. Thirdly; the reviews. I read many people's complaint of the unit failing every now and then picking up a signal from the wheel sensor device. Some mentioned that during their rides it would be a number of minutes before the signal is picked up again. So, is it worth keeping -- NO! I don't blame anyone but myself in this situation. I should have taken the time to review the product first. But, when you walk into a store and you are presented with such a great sale, its hard not to take advantage of it, especially if its a type of item you are in the market for.

I might just wait to get a GPS device instead.

Ciclomaster has a Radius of wheel (measured) input.

I just havent bothered with re installing any since my last long tour ,
where I rarely looked at it .

Now people cannot stop looking at their Smart Phone for more than 10 minutes.

by the way there are widgets to add to the vertical part of your M/P bend handlebar
to mount a computer , and/or a Battery light
Brompton themselves sell one with their battery light setup.

Boy, talk about a great idea. I just looked through the apps on iTunes store and there is an app for the iPhone called Cyclemeter GPS. It does everything except monitor the heart rate. I was reading the info on it, but I wasn't sure if it has live tracking or not. The best part its only $5.00 -- sure beats buying an expensive GPS Cyclometer. The Garmin 810, for example, costs $399. Add the heart strap another $60. Most likely the biggest issue using it on an iPhone is battery drain. Anybody know anything about this app?

I bet they do, but that's OK, I've got nothing to hide. besides, if they track me and I get mugged or kidnapped, oops, I mean oldfartnapped, they can track the perpetrator.

cool story, bro. the problem with "i have nothing to hide" is that it equates privacy with bad behavior. think about it...
