Dahon build new bike (just received)

I just received a Dahon bike and there is a plastic piece near the chain that I dont know if I have to get rid, becuase having it I cant get the chain go into the main gear.

That's called a chainkeeper which is supposed to prevent the chain from dropping off to the inside when you're shifting into lower gears (bigger cogs) in back. Somehow it got stuck under the keeper on the inside of the chainring, the exact problem it's supposed to solve.

Loosen the bolt on the keeper, slide it up, place the chain on the ring, then slide the keeper back in place.
