Folding bike races?

I sure hope that they one day have folding bike races so I can combine my love of cycling with that of photography. I was going through some of my event photos I took a number of years back and came across some I took of the Tour de Scottsdale. The race had different routes and lengths to accommodate different riders and abilities. I'm hoping that one day they have races specifically for folding bikes here. I know they have for the Brompton, just hope it comes to my hood one year.

They already do.

There are national heats for the BWC in the US.. and world wide in various countries.

Want a regional one in AZ?, Organise it.!

There was one in Nottingham earlier this year, a bit of gimmick really and not very organised.

That's ok. I'll stick to covering the event, not organize it. Too much work. I enjoy what I do. The least I can do is get in touch with those you do organize such events and see how they feel about putting a folding event together, or at least bring the Brommie events here. My foot will be in the door then to cover it :thumb:.

Yes they do, but like I said, it would be nice if they bring the event to AZ.

That would be a nice idea for where I live. A modified Brompton. Which leads me to believe that perhaps the guy who had competed in the Tour de Tucson a few years back might have had his Brompton tricked out. Apparently his was the only folding bike in the tour. No idea how he placed or even finished for that matter.

I posted the above in reply to the link you provided. Wasn't thinking, but that's normal for me -- duh!! :)

Bike Friday's Pocket Rocket could be competitive .. under a fast rider. (not me)..

Delegating, you may have a longer wait, Wayne ,

the "You Guys Should" committee is overwhelmed with projects right now.

The bike is an important part, it needs to be as efficient as possible but the engine has the most important part to play. Some people can achieve the seemingly impossible if they put their minds to it or is it a case of being oblivious to difficulties. I have heard stories of people doing all sorts of challenging rides on bikes that seem less than adequate for the job.

If they race dachsunds then surely they could race folding bikes. You'd need a Le Mans start, and then the first one through baggage check wins.

I thought a pass through a portal 'this' big barrier, a mid race obstacle,

would be a good addition to a folding bike race.

Yes indeed. Pro cyclists can achieve only what most aspiring cyclists can only dream about. You don't win the yellow jersey in the Tour de France because you have the best bike on the block. Hey, talk about the T de F -- can you imagine those guys doing the tour on Brommies? What a hoot!!

Here's a few more I took that day -- if you like looking at photos :).
