[Dahon Vitesse D8] Rear derailleur snapped

Hi all,

Last March I bought a brand new Dahon Vitesse D8 and this morning, whilst I was cycling, the rear derailleur (NEOS 8 SPEED, DAHON SPECIAL EDITION) snapped in two. I would like to replace it with a better one (my budget is max £80). Any suggestion?

At the moment I am thinking cycle with no rear derailleur removing 7/8 chain links using a middle gear. Can I do that?

I know that probably I have to buy a sort-of adapter if I want to use a Shimano derailleur. Is it true?

Thanks.

Larry.

depends on what vitesse frame you have .. send us a pic and we will be able to tell you if you need an aadapter or not... I do have them for sale but shipping would be an additional 20 bucks and it would be cool if you do not need one to start out with ...

wonder how that derrailleur broke, they are usually pretty bombproof ... :-(

Er, get the Neos 2. As far as I understand Dahons have a reversed cable pull so the derailleur has to match shifter.
What country are you in?

The Neos is a rapid rise derailleur as opposed to a High Normal type that is most commonly used ... and uses a Low Normal shifter (a High Normal shifter will work, but the shift indicator numbers will be reversed) .. the Neos is a pretty good choice for small wheeled bikes as it's very compact and optimized for crisp shifting..
