BOMA F-1: 6066 Aluminium 2.15kg

Double checking he will post to UK from Japan, but what do you guyz think?

I quite like it, rather nice looking.

zebede 02-09-14 10:54 AM

Oh I think you will find a lot of fans of mini-velo here.

Check out this thread: http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...-Bikes-we-like.

You should not be tall , the sizes , I note : made are assuming buyers are such.

chaadster 02-09-14 11:05 AM

It's cool that's it's disc ready; they're particularly hard to find, though I think there are more options in EU than USA. Japan is minivelo central, though.

dezzie 02-09-14 12:29 PM

Tyrell bikes coming to uk sometime this year or so they told me a few weeks back!

ziqpy 02-09-14 12:42 PM

Tyrell are really nice bikes, but you pay high price for their high specs.

This frame is mid range, and disc ready which ticks all my boxes http://www.bikeforums.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Can fit this frame how I like, and maybe some bargains too.

P7HVN 02-09-14 04:03 PM

That's a great looking set-up. Need that for one of my projects.... :speedy:
Wish I could order just the frameset, from many of the mini-velos offered on Rakuten Global....

jur 02-09-14 05:37 PM

Be careful with size - I found that minivelo frame sizes are quite small. Ask for effective top tube length to make sure.

thugpipe 02-14-14 11:00 PM

That bike looks fantastic, get it if you think it will even remotely fit you. Trust me when I say that this style of bike with disc brakes and done up right is a blast to ride, I love mine!!!!

I really wish that some company comes up with a minivelo made from 4130 cromoly.
hello salsa, hello surly, aren't you guys going to produce one?

Hello Soma, who couldn't even sell out a short run without putting them on sale to clear them out of stock. No big comany will do one, even midrange companies like Salsa and Surly probably saw how the Soma bike didn't sell and decided to pass... It's truly a wonder C'dale still makes the Hooligan.

Be prepared to snap one up when some other smaller company does one, like the Bully above, which was only available 1-2 years, or the Soma, which was just one production run. They will remain the realm of small, niche producers and importers.

As mconlonx kinda stated there are 4130 mini velo out there, you can still pick up a soma mini velo off ebay which is chrome molly, the Origin8 Bully is too although it is out of production for a few years if you look you might find one. Bikesdirect.com sells the mercier nano still which is chrome moly and the respect cycles mini velo fixie is chromo. And if you want the creme de la creme and you have the resources and patience to try and import one from japan there is my dream bike the Tyrell CX which is a beautiful minivelo made of renolds 525 chrom, but it is like $1500 before importing costs. Oh and I cant forget the moultons which are steel bikes as well.

The Origin8 bully is so far the only chrome moly mini velo I have found that has disc brake monuts but it is a little hard to come by. I have presonally managed to find 2 in local shops in the last year and I just saw one on ebay go in the past week so you can actually find them.

I hope this helps.

EDIT: crap I just noticed you are in indonesia, I sometimes forget this is an international forum, GET A TYRELL CX!!!! I am pretty sure they sell it in your country you lucky bastard! I will live vicariously through you, just write a long post about it with lots of pictures here.

ziqpy 02-20-14 07:49 AM

well my frame is in the country atm, but seems customs passed it on to parcel force without my consent.

Had the customs form marked with 'customs to be handled by importer'

so I'd expect customs to get a nice phone call me form me if I'm charged by parcel force.

dezzie 02-20-14 09:34 AM

This has been on ebay UK for ages - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Burls-stee...p2056016.l4276

ziqpy 02-20-14 12:06 PM

yes, seen that. But then I priced up the parts.

He's asking way too much.

Well that appears to be a custom built lugged frame made with reynolds steel not a mass production frame so I would expect it to be on the expensive side. the price is all about the labor in the frame not the groupset, look at the cost of the tyrell CX which is comparable and that has a sram apex group and it is mass production bike although I personally like the tyrell better.

the short answer is no, the bike was released and discontinued in 2011 and so no longer appears on the site, but you might be able to find a used one on eBay, craig's list or the wider Internets if you are patient. It should also be noted that the bike in the photo was modified quite a bit from stock the only original parts being the frame and fork.

This is the before:
