Saw a company on the net somewhere that was selling CF posts for Bromptons. Had the necked down top for the Pentaclip,just like the stocker.

I'm not worried about CF just suddenly failing;I know two people that had steel forks suddenly go on them. But in this case,there's too much post sticking out,too little clamping area,and the post is regularly being 'reclamped'. On my road bikes,I set the seatpost height once,tighten the clamp with a torque wrench,then leave it alone.

Thanks for the warning guys... I think it's pretty clear my carbon seatpost just isn't meant to be on the Brompton. Not to mention I'd agree the weight savings is negligible to be absolutely not worth the risk.

Thanks. Going to collect my wheel tmr with the A2 installed. Hopefully it doesn't need tweaking.

On the Brompton its unusable stock, may be ok on a 20" wheel though depending on if you get the 20 or 26" version.

Its pretty easy to change if you are semi mechanical minded, though there was some discussion about the warranty if you do.

RE cf seat post, that would be an upper 2 stage telescopic?

there are bushings to Modify the existing seatpost , after cutting it off,
then slotting it and adding a 2nd QR on top of the standard post .

I had a Dahon XX for awhile that came stock with a CF seat post. Beautiful and light weight. CF is not a problem if properly engineered and manufactured, and appropriate for the use. Before getting sidetracked by life, was looking for a CF post for the Birdy. Several outfits were selling them on ebay, and also ran across Asian bike shops selling them, mostly in Japan. I would have no problem with using a CF seat post if the quality was known. I would avoid trying to use a non folder designed seat post. The length and diameter are quite a bit larger in most cases.

I think with folders that trying for less weight isn't so important insofar as riding is concerned, it can make a big difference when lugging it around and stuffing it in public transport during multi-modal use. If you've ever had to run between trains at the Tokyo main station, you probably catch my drift.

Totally agree. Weight savings while riding doesn't concern me much. However, I do fold+carry a fair bit, and I plan to be keeping this bike for a long time, so even an expensive pound of weight savings might be worth it over a sufficient length of time.
