Hello all,

Thought I'd come back to you guys for further recommendation. I asked quite awhile ago on my other 16 inch foldie and was happy with the feedback*. That one I ended up getting some Comets for it and been happy with the results.

I have a Dahon 7sp Boardwalk. I was rolling with some 406 20x1 1/8 Continentals, but what always seems to be the problem with them is that the sidewalk eventually fails. They rolled pretty good and had descent puncture protection. If you were to look at them they would still have most of the thread left still to be used, but one of the tires has spot where the sidewall is letting some of the tube out of it! I ended up putting some duct tape on this spot to stop that from happening, but I doubt I could make it dependable.

I'd like to find some tires that have good speed to them and some protection. Being that I'm +250lbs I'm going to need something that is always going to have to be pumped up to at least 100 psi. The tires I like to still have is some 20x1 1/8, but I would be open to something a little wider if convinced.

Im sure about ur boardwalk but my boardwalk D8 (asia market) weight limit is 100kg.
Im 95kg so i switch to Schwalbe big apple 20x2.00

I think you should stick with the Primo Comets. I used the 406 x 1.35" size for years. I switched to 1.5" Greenspeed Scorchers. The rear tire failed prematurely and I replaced it with a Primo Comet 406 x 1.50". I just checked, and both sizes of my Primo Comets are rated for 100PSI.

I use Schwalbe Marathons on my small wheel bikes, both 16" and 20" (406). They last a good long time and are pretty much bulletproof.

Both the Comets and the Schwalbe Marathons are still on my list of possibles. I was leaning more towards the 1.35 than the 1.5 on the Comets.

If there's any current specials happening somewhere, please do share!

Regarding the weight issue. I never looked at what the recommended max was on my bike, but it seems to be handing it just fine. I don't get crazy with it and I'm pretty careful on not stressing it more than I need to. It is made of 4130 CroMo which does help.

Innova IA-2245 20x1.35 Folding tire on my 20".
Cheap ,and not bad.

Ditto 406-47 Schwalbes on my Bike Friday ... lower end my bike trailer has Kenda tires in the same size.

I'd go for Schwalbe Big Apples or one of the Marathon options. Maybe the new Schwalbe Durano Plus: a more durable version of the Durano. It should be faster than a standard Marathon. Please note that the original Marathon and Marathon Plus are very slow. They also take a long time to wear out so I don't know if the new versions are better.

I don't recommend Primo Comets. I don't like their wet weather performance. They never felt really secure in the wet.

You could always try a Kenda Kwest. Not the fastest tyre out there but cheap and reasonable.

why not try a supreme..... they are usually VERY expensive ..but sometimes ...very seldom good deals can be found.... :-)

what do you mean expensive?? you are selling them for $32 each at your site (wire bead but even those are $50+ elsewhere) and i bought two of them Oh and your tern trolley rack for almost half price was a friggin steal! which i also snagged and totally worth it for me!

These look good and the feedback on Amazon sounds promising! So far I'm looking at these as the go to tires.

One thing I really like about their site is they put the shipping info with a link on their pages! Soooooooooo many times you go to a site and you're lost on shipping info.

you're welcome and the marathon supreme's are basically using schwalbes top of the line compounds (roadstar) while the normal marathon racers and big apples only use the 2nd highest level tech (speedgrip and sbc compounds)

2nd last line under "triple star compound" is where supreme's sit. Totally overkill for your bike but heeeeey why not?

Got my Marathon Supremes yesterday and got them on today. I haven't had a chance to go for a ride with them yet, but they look and feel good on the little ride I've done so far. Doesn't look like I'll be able to carry on with my cowboy ways, but I'll have to get used to the new way. I'm thinking maybe some lite cyclocrossing with my foldie?
