Brompton's "International" warranty covers parts but not labor?
That sounds fair enough, but I want to make sure I'm not misunderstanding it.
"Bikes exported from one country to another will be supported, within the warranty period, by the free
issue of parts from the factory, where necessary. However, the Brompton distributor or dealer in the
new country will normally charge for the labour required to undertake warranty repairs, and for any
import duty levied on the free-issued parts."
Am I missing anything? I plan to purchase my Brompton cheaper from overseas and is willing to miss out on the free local warranty and servicing as this bike might not stay in one country for long.
Also, this is around 2002 so I'm not sure if anything has changed.
Thanks in advance.

Shops are not usually reimbursed from the factory for warranty work. Maybe Brompton works differently, I don't know.
A local shop where you bought the bike might offer free warranty service and maybe not even tell you they are doing so, in which case warranty labor is eaten by the shop at a loss.
Bring your bike into a shop different from the shop where you purchased the bike, and unless they are trying to win over a new customer, I'd expect them to charge for the labor.
