DT Mini Back in My Life: Still Crazy After All These Years

I've had a bit of a hard time in my personal life, and unexpectedly ended up living in rental apartment while my to-be-ex-wife keeps the house.

Not been to happy. But a few days ago, my old DT mini was dropped off at my door. I've got my brommie SLX-2 anyway for commuting. But hey, I thought, the mini is ideal for errands, pootling around.

It has been a blast. It's like meeting up with an old girlfriend and remembering all the fun we had together.

Anyway, love the Mini, and love to DT and Dr Yan for the happiness it has brought me. It's battered at the edges, like me. Lots of that lovely green pearlescent chipped and wounded, but all the way.

Sweet. I'm currently in a devolving relationship and I sympathize. My solace is a Birdy folder, which comes along with me in my bedroom on wheels.

Sorry to read about the divorce ... although it made me a much happier person.

The bike still looks good. I hope you keep having fun with it.

hey bud ... about that divorce.. went through that rather surprised after 32 years of what I thought were happy years... yeah ... that was 3 years ago .
That nest egg is a far memory but other than that I am so much happier and more relaxed and I even can cook up a decent meal once in a while. Found a wonderful girlfriend who really is absolutely amazing. Life is good. Very good. Hang in there, the pain will pass.

My condolences to Gus and Thor. I went through the same thing last year, it was brutal. Thankfully we worked things out.

Thanks,
Yan

thanks to you all guys, your kindness is appreciated. Like you Thor, it was three decades of what I thought were happy years, and it is the writing off of those which I am finding hardest. But the small things help, and the kindness of folks has been really a revelation.

Am building towards a new life, and the odd pootle on the mini while I put things in perspective has helped so much, and just the sight of it (her) in my hallway likewise. Purty thing.

although so much looks now being wasted time and efforts... you dont need to write off the past alltogether. Just the moments which were not so good. Keep in mind that you cant change yesterday so just forget about it. Dont blame yourself. Dont feel sorry for yourself ( yeah easier said than done )
Carefully plan your future with bucket lists etc etc and than work like hell to scratch things off that list.
Dont look back, live in the moment, try to have fun and enjoy life, re-connect with old friends ( I found myself pretty lonesome as the ex was driving everybody away ) Stay busy as hell. Try new things like jumping out of a plane , or go to a ballgame ( never did that before, but its fun, once in a great while )

Set short time personal goals and long time dreams and again push away all negativity from the past and just keep the good memories.

DONT BLAME YOURSELF, DONT LOOK FOR REASONS ..... learn from the past, but only allow limited space in your head for it.

THINK ME ME ME ME ( yes it sounds arrogant, but you need to take care of YOURSELF for a while before its us again )

Thor, you are a kind and generous man, this is really helpful.

As it happened, I watched the ball game on tv with my Dad last night (ok, so my team lost - England), but it was good to reconnect with him, and realize I am lucky to have him with us still, and to be able to spend time with him and my mom without feeling guilty or having to defend it to the now-ex. She too is driving people away but also, some people have come through and are there for me in ways I would't have expected....

And folks here are coming through too. Blessings on you all.
