Tern Verge Kinetix Comp Rear Wheel Grinding

So I got myself a brand new Tern Verge P20 (I was going to post about it, but haven't gotten around to it yet). I brought the bike to Philadelphia for the holiday weekend. On the train, it got knocked over in the folded state onto the non-drivetrain side. I didn't think much of it until I got to Philly. When wheeling the bike, I hear a clicking noise. I took off the rear wheel, and the hub now grinds and catches in a bad way. So, my brand new bike needs a repair. It seems kind of delicate if getting jostled on a train is all it took to knock the wheel out of whack. It has Kintetix Comp 20" wheels, which I gather is from Dahon.

So, can anyone say what's going on? Based on little experience with bikes, I guess something went wrong with the bearings? I gather it has cartridge bearings, which I've never dealt with before (I've only ever worked with the cup and cone hub on my Brompton). How hard is this to repair? Is this something a standard bike shop can deal with? There don't seem to be any Tern dealers or many folding bike shops very nearby. I'm hoping I can get it fixed quickly (and cheaply) in Philly, and be on my way.

I'm hoping someone has some thoughts on what went wrong, and how big a problem I'm dealing with, so thanks for any insight.

And Happy 4th of July, for those in the United States.

So this is a 9-speed cassette on your P20? Could be a bent skewer on the nondrive side. Have you removed the skewer and rolled it on a flat surface to see?

I can only comment on M3L, since I own one of those ..
now they come with a sealed bearing Cartridge BB.
Cups they use to screw into the frame are plastic , to not rust or corrode..

Other than the frame bits the components on the Tern are not unique.

Checks: freehub contaminated , hub cones too tight , I'd have to look at it in person, to see.

any person with mechanical experience in a Bike shop should be able to figure it out

Here we ask each other to arrive at the resolution..

So,it fell onto the front wheel, but the rear is making noise?

Yeah, check the skewer, that's the only thing I can think of unless your bearings were defective and picked this opportunity to fail.

I took the wheel out, and off the skewer, so it's not that. I spun the wheel in my hands, and it made grinding noises and grabbed; it didn't spin smoothly. The bike tipped over sideways, so it didn't exactly land on the wheel. I can only guess that jarred something loose. Are cartridge bearings standard, and easy to replace?

Can't adjust the play on a cartridge bearing, not meant to be user-serviceable.

You're in Philly -- look up Mike McGettigan at Trophy Bikes, a folder specialty shop.
