Origami Bicycke Co.'s Criket for Shorter people too?

I'm a first time folding bike prospective buyer and I'm curious to know if anyone can attest to the adjustability/comfort of the Origami Bicycle Co's Criket model folder for shorter people. I like the price range and the fact that it has suspension. All other ones that have suspension are seemingly $200+ more than the Criket and at this time i can't financially justify spending that much right now. I figure that if I'm in a budget then I should invest in a product that will theoretically (I'm guessing since I don't have a lot of bike experience other than childhood memories) not hurt the bum.

I'm a 5'1" female that's trying to get back on a bike and since I read up on this forum of some people in the 6'+ range saying the Criket is ok for them, but no shorties so far have said anything (as I've seen so far).

Since the Criket has that interrupted seat post deal due to the suspension thingy (lol, those are the technical terms ya?) I'm worried that I may not be able to adjust the seat post enough that I can touch the ground when the bike's at a standstill. This is important to me because it kinda freaked me out when I tried getting on my sister's Schwinn (regular style, not folding bike) and despite bringing and adjusting the seatpost down as far as it'll go I still couldn't touch the ground when on the saddle without jumping a clearance of several inches.

My daughter is 5'3" and can ride the Cricket with no problem. We have had a couple of people about 5'0" cut am inch or two of of the seat post for a better fit.

Thanks for the prompt reply @Pinigis. I'm kind of worried now that I have to find a machinist that can cleanly cut the post. Does Home Depot cut stuff like this for me? I don't mind it if I know I can do it. To be honest I'd like to avoid the hassle, I'm not secure about taking a saw to a metal post.

Just wondering if the Mantis model is comparable to the Criket even though the Mantis allows for the seatpost to be depressed all the way down like the Crane. Is there an underlying design purpose to the difference in the suspension system placement in the Criket (with its suspension undercutting the seatpost vs the Mantis's suspension placement)? Does the Mantis have a longer distance between its seat/saddle and the handlebars to accommodate taller people or is the saddle-to-handle bar difference the same as the Criket model? Or is the Mantis taller than the Criket as a whole? I've been YouTube stalking your channel and was hoping for more product videos.

It would probably help to have a size graph on the website to notate the differences between the models (like an overlay effect or something with the outlines of each model over each other) as well as the recommended lower limit and upper limit of rider heights that each model would accommodate without modification...just feedback-ing. YouTube videos always help me.

I've mainly considered the Crane or the Criket because your shop site indicates that the Mantis is designed for taller folk.

The Manits is a bit taller overall and would not be my first choice for a shorter rider. The handlebar will be a bit high for you, and that is a lot more difficult to shorten.

We can cut the seat post down in a Cricket for you, and provide you a standard length one as well. We just sold the last of our stock of Crickets and Mantis and our warehouse is nearly empty, but we will have more in about 35 days.

We do have a list of all of the relevant dimensions, and height limits, on our specifications page: Specifications

Thanks for the link to the specifications! Thank you for clarifying the size differences between the Mantis and Criket. You may want to consider also copy/pasting that chart into each model's Shop page or at least a link.

Also, I appreciate the heads up on the waiting period. That's good news for the Origami Bicycle Co.! I'm liking the Criket then if you can do the cutting down of the seat post for me and provide that standard length post in case a taller family member/friend wants to check it out. That'd be awesome! I guess I'll check back in with your website in about 35 days+.

Is there some reflective paint you can put on the new builds for some safety and pizzazz?

p.s. I think I'd like the yellow...unless you come up with another catchy sporty color.

The Cricket will be available in black and orange. Yellow was Not as popular last time around.
