Interesting read for anyone shopping for Montague
Seems like Montague has a serious counterfeiting problem, possibly related to unlicensed copies intended for sale within China.
Anyway, this article on how to spot a fake should be of interest to anyone shopping for one, who maybe finds what seems like a good price.

I read this article a couple of days ago on the Montague blog and found it very informative. Thank you for sharing it with the rest the forum.

Very informative. I wondered about all those odd looking copies on eBay.

Intellectual property theft and true counterfeits are a broad problem for the innovators in the industry. Dahon has been fighting this for years.
I was amused by the line in the Montague blurb: "Any bike using our design but not the official Montague name is a copy." Uh, yeah, so what's your point?
Using another's design protected under an active patent is stealing intellectual property. Putting another company's incorporated name and/or copyrighted logo on a product is committing fraud. Using another's unprotected ideas? Welcome to life.
