hard case for a XXL bike friday

I am considering a 28" Samsonite which is clearly under the current 62 linear limit for most airlines

The dimensions are 28x19x11

Does anyone have a XXL Pocket Llama with a hardcase who would be sure whether a 28" would fit?

I have a 31" hardside, but like many no longer using it as it's much more than the limit, being close to 70"

I'd like to find the smallest size possible, as I'm convinced the airlines will again squeeze us with even smaller bag limits

BF would know for sure and is always happy to help with one of their bike no matter if it is a new or used one. They do have an 800 number and answer emails. Roger

70"! Really?

What were you using? This?

Amazon.com: Samsonite F'Lite GT 31" Hardside Wheeled Luggage - Black: Clothing

It says it's under 62" unless I did a math error.

This is directly from the Samsonite website
It is measured just like how airlines do it, they include wheels, handles and the largest measurement for each dimension
I've read some having to pay oversize charges with the 31" and the 30" runs pretty close, so to be safe considering the 28"

Regardless, I have reached out to BF, thanks

Samsonite F'Lite GT 31" Spinner : F Lite GT
Overall Dimensions: 32.67"X 23.48"X 13.77"

What did they say?

We're referencing different Samsonite luggage then. The one that I linked appears identical to what I got from Bike Friday.

they got back to me quicky that they would get back to me, so still waiting

I believe the version they sell at BF is the 30" model, which appears no longer be sold
but still on the Samsonite website: Samsonite F'Lite GT 30" Hardside Upright : Clearance

the overall dimensions are still over 62" according to Samsonite's measurements
Body Dimensions: 29.5" x 20.0" x 12.0"
Overall Dimensions: 31.0" x 22.5" x 12.25"

Can I trouble you to measure your case?
Also what size frame and bike model do you have? and is it a snug fit?

Yes. That is what I have. Or if it's not, it's really really close. I recall that when I got the suitcase -- 2007? -- it was technically 64" which matches what I see here on EBags.com. At some point, I recall that Samsonite started claiming 62" which I gather is just the body rather than the overall dimension you linked earlier. It's up in storage. Getting it for measurement is not trivial. Sorry bud.

I used to ride 56-58 cm bikes and my NWT was custom sized for me. I remember there being quite a bit of extra space in the suitcase. Putting too much stuff in and going over the weight limit was a potential problem. It occurred to me that I could use a smaller suitcase if I was willing to experiment but never bothered.
