Pink Floyd getting back together: Truth or Myth?

I have had someone recently tell me that Pink Floyd is releasing a new album. Dont know which one or any specifics. This would mean new tour? which means getting back together.

If this is true where can I get info? Man If they really are touring I am buying my tickets NOW!

Hmm.. I dunno about that, I just like the dark side of the moon logo, and I like a lot of their songs. If they played in farmington, I'd buy a ticket and go.

I don't think so.

There's not any mention of these things on the fan sites. Especially with Waters doing some opera and a new solo album.

Just what I gleened from searching a little bit. I haven't been keeping up.

I doubt the new album, but I think the rumors of the tour are stemming from the Stones going out on tour. This is par for the course when the "see them before they're dead" bands start touring.

Realize I meant no disrespect, but this Rock and Roll we're talking about.

Keith Richards for example that man's been dead since like 1973

Ha, I wasn't going to say it, but I was thinking it. "see 'em before they're dead"

No disrespect here either. They're up there in my top five bands. Gilmore is a God and the rest of them are tremendously talented as well.

Hang around long enough and you'll find I'll say a lot of things people are afraid to.

the last article i read was that there was some hard feelings between the band members (the front man) and the rest of the band; if they could ever get things patched up they would do another tour. I think they would all like to do a tour but grudges are getting in the way.

The rumours are stemming from drummer Nick Mason's new book about Pink Floyd. In interviews to promote the book he has said that nothing is ruled out in the way of reunions for tours or albums. Probably just a ploy to get more interest in the book.

It would be cool though...

That would be great & I'd love to see them in concert, but the last I heard, Gilmour and Waters weren't exactly the best of mates. (To say the least.)

Pink Floyd needs the two of them, or it's not really Pink Floyd. IMO, of course.

Gil will probably pull Syd from the grave to get the rig on the road one last time. Prop him up with a guitar and mike (both unplugged).

All the while a big screen in the backgroung shouting "Flip you, Roger".

I believe waters has said he will never be part of
a "reunion".
However Cream said the same thing and they just finished
a run a Royal Albert Hall.

You never know. I saw Pink Floyd without Waters in toronto back in the late 80's. Excellent show but not the same without Waters. It was in quadraphonic sound! Dont know if they'll ever resolve their differences. It's too bad.

If they reconstitute the band, just don't do a Guns n Roses and switch out every member. That would bite and suck at the same time, man.

[rant]Guns and roses, the one band guaranteed to have me change
whatever station is playing them. Axle rose has the most annoying
voice in rock and roll, he is the poseur's poseur.
They suck royally. [/rant]

did I mention that I really don't like GNR?

I like old GnR, but that new stuff is crap. Luckily, I don't have to worry about it coming up on my radio stations. I mostly listen to R & B music stations.

I like R&B, but real R&B, not rap. Rap has lost it's edge
(imho), it all sounds the same and the message is long
gone.
What station you listening to in DC (I'd use the semi
inappropriate nickname for DC but I'd probably get into
trouble, and you know me, always in trouble).

Well, the good thing is R & B isn't rap, so a good R & B radio station will recognize that and keep the rap out.

I haven't found a radio station here yet. I haven't really been listening to radio at all, but it would be nice to know there's one out here. In Chicago, they had an excellent radio station- it was 106.3. But here... I'm not sure if such a station exists.

Still waiting to get to Nick Mason's new book. The reviews I've read have been good, though.

I saw them in '89 (Momentary Lapse) and twice in '94 (Division Bell). The '89 show was during a tropical storm in Orlando, FL. All that rain did some awesome things with the lasers. And the storm blew out the power to the stage in the middle of "Money." It took them a few minutes to get everything back up, and the band picked up in the middle of the solo, and then just jammed forever. Gilmour said to the crowd at the end of the number, "S***. I thought it rained in f***ing London."

The second time I saw them in '94 I bought tickets day-of-show (Raleigh, NC) from the box-office for face value (with no Ticket B*****d surcharge!) that were in the very front row, dead center (not giving away the secret to pulling this off). My wife and I had VIP seats Nos. 1 and 2. Heard the whole show off Gilmour's stage monitor. The week previous we'd seen them in Tampa, FL, from the second deck, 50-yard line. Perfect spot for taking in the whole light show. Wow, that was a great week! Would travel any distance to see them again.

I saw that tour at Georgia Tech's stadium in Atlanta. High up, off to the side of the 'bowl' or 'shell', whatever it was. Couldn't see a damn thing. What a rip off. They owe me money.

Well guess what? Now's our chance...

A Pink Floyd reunion was one of the first rumors to spring out of the announcement of Live 8. Over the weekend, it became a reality, as singer/guitarist David Gilmour confirmed on the band's Web site that the four members of the band's classic line up would be playing together for the first time in 24 years.

Bassist and key songwriter Roger Waters split from Pink Floyd in 1983, with Gilmour, drummer Nick Mason and keyboard player Richard Wright still performing under the band's name, though they haven't played live in over a decade.
