you've got to wonder about humanity
i was talking to a friend of mine last night who's a messenger here in chicago. going over the general life things that have happened to us since we last spoke and then he says 'yeah val. my week has pretty much sucked since i saw a man get stabbed to death last week'. what? it happened at 2.30pm on dearborn/chicago (which is just off michigan, near the hancock for those of you not familiar). he said these two guys were fighting and he was going to go over to break it up when the one guy stumbled towards him, blood all over. jesus. and to top it off he got the run around from the police, he was at the station until 9.30pm and only got to go because he said he wanted to talk with the public defender.
he's such an easy going guy. i told him i'm here for him, but seeing that sort of thing cannot be good for one's mental health.
I totally understand, but... that's right near the homeless/transient shelter. In fact, that IS the homeless/transient shelter you're referring to. It's not Kansas anymore, once you've left the Gold Coast and stepped into that little section of town. I'm not surprised at all to hear that story and see the address. That is really freaky, because when you're downtown, you're walking through some great neighborhoods, and I really love walking and riding up Dearborn... except right on Chicago and Dearborn. I only went to the Ben and Jerry's there once, and after that, I said never again. It is just not a great section of town there, man.
yeah you're right about the location, but that's sort of irrelevant. chicago is just one of those places where one block is 'good' and the next not so good. whatever 'good' is. i guess it just bums me out that it happened right in the middle of the day. the guy that got killed was walking with his girlfriend.

i'm still looking to get filthy rich and take all the ss/fixie forum-ers to my little piece of paradise where all we do is ride bikes, race, drink, laugh and just be happy.
maybe i'm asking for too much.
hateful little monkey
That's a whole ton of suck right there. Sorry to hear it.
If I get filthy-rich first, I'll get right to work on the habitat.
