Thought I was going to get in a fight this morning

Something really freaky happened just a half hour ago.

I was sitting in a Jiffy Lube waiting for my van to get serviced. Another customer walks in wearing shades and he immediately looks my way and stares. I couldn't see his eyes but he was definitely mad dogging me. Then he says I've got the wrong guy and I should call off the cops! He begins to tell me that he had just moved into town and that cops think he and his girlfriend are dealing drugs out of his house. The lady I was sitting next to looks at me and shrugs like, wtf? I tell him HE's got the wrong guy.

He then gets up and starts pacing and ranting. I think to myself, I've been working out, can I take this guy if he goes nuts on me? The guy is a plumber, so says the logo on his truck, and he looks fit. But if he's a druggie, I might have a leg up. Then again, I have the soft hands of a pencil pusher. The last time I got in a fight was when I was taking martial arts class at 16 y/o and got my ass kicked in a match. That was 25 years ago and I don't remember the first thing about Kung Fu or Kung Pao anymore.

Thankfully, his truck was done and he split muttering and staring at me as he leaves. Good thing because I was gonna go all Stan Lee on him.

When was the last time you got in a fight?

Yeah... no doubt! You coulda drawn a couple panels of a comic book featuring some dude at a Jiffy Lube who ingested some used oil and became endowed with SUPER POWERS!

Seriously.

Don't ever think that. If hes a druggie he would likely not know he is hurting until your throat is in his hand and he is in jail. Even when I was training for the police you are taught to handle people messed on drugs with kid gloves, you don't ever want them to 'go off' on you.

I used to fight quite a bit as a kid. Lots of aggression and being a very big kid, I had challenges rather constantly into high school. I got into sports and that soon stopped. Past that I came close last new years when a guy got trashed and looked at me funny like I just had sex with his gf and then tried ripping into me. (vocally) I looked over to my buddy (the owner, and I had bounced here) and got the nod and I simply removed him from the property. A little physical but simply a trick to pull him outside to 'fight' ("come on lets take this outside blah blah, kick your ass, blah blah, yes I am as dumb as you for fighting, blah blah"), where the bouncers stopped him from coming back in and I went back inside. No fight, guy went home (after lots of yelling) and sobered up and I continued my night.

You can almost always get out of a fight, really isn't worth it in the end. Fighting for me is a survival thing, I don't need to prove anything to anyone.

Very Canadian, but also very true. The last dummy that tried to pick a fight with me, I offered to buy a drink, Obi Wan Kenobi style. %1 of the time doesn't happen that often, the rest of the time it's egotistical BS.

i punched a guy when he tried to mug me, although i missed his face and my fist landed on the side of his neck. i then bolted like hell out of there. total self defense, but does that count as a fight? i wish i had my heart rate monitor on that evening, i probably would have been at 95% max.

Friday, plumber, payday........that says it all (Flame suit on....just kidding ya'all)

I'd rather curl up in a ball and get kicked a few times rather than punched in my beautiful face and fight back and kill the poor guy. Plus, the last time I got in a fight I got my butt whooped too (1990, stabbed in the spleen, broken face), I guess if I was the whoopee I'd feel differently. However, if my life is in danger I'm shooting.

It was probably a good idea to stay clear of him. It also would have been a good idea to get the company name and number on the side of the van he was driving. His employers might want to know how he is representing them in public. What would it be like if this guy showed up to your house to do work? Scarrrrrryyyyyyyy!!

Since your exposure to gamma rays you probably get into a lot more fights but I assume you win most of them. I think your fight with the mighty Thor was a draw.

Merton is absolutely right. If this dude was as high as a motherf$#*er, you'd have never have taken him.
And what if he wasn't? What if he was a honest to god schizophrenic off his meds? HMMM??? Worse
yet. Your best bet is to ignore him/her, humor them or worse case, talk them out of it.
Been there, done that, have the T-shirt.

If someone can drag up that old police tape of 5 cops trying to take down a drug dealer who had been shot 3-4 times, that'll give you a pretty good idea of just what drugs can do to you.

Short of shooting him in the head, I doubt you could've taken him even if you emptied an entire 9mm clip at him dead center. Druggies are best left alone.

I have only been on one fight. I beat up a girl in 6th grade, and I STILL feel terriable about it. I didn't really even beat her up, I just pushed her hard and she landed in the street and cracked her head on the curb. She had to go to the hospital. I was grounded for 3 months!!

I must look tough because I've talked my way out of a couple of fights. I was in a bar...go figure...and this girl got all pissed off cuz I was talking to her boyfriend. Whatever. So she said you wanna go outside and talk about this *****. I said trust me sister, you don't want to take this outside. Besides...I just got this drink. So she just spouted something about leaving her "man" alone and dragged him off the stool and out the door. What a couple. He was the one who started it all with "can I buy you that drink". Sure...just call off your freakazoid girlfriend!! What kind of fella buys another girl a drink when he's waiting for his girlfriend to show up.

I had a guy act like that at a Huddle House a few years ago, going on about how I was in his seat. He turned around to get his buddies, and I loosened the salt shaker cap. (HH doesn't salt thier food). I was finishing up my meal as it was, so I left the booth to him and his buddies. I then went out to my car and called a friend of mine. Then thier food came. The look was pricless as he pour salt one his fries.

I have bad eyesight. I cannot see without my glasses. Was on a summer trip with some friends. Buddy thought it would be funny to swing a hiking stick at me. Bent the heck out of my glasses. We stopped in this town to get my glasses fixed, found this generic version of eyemasters. As I handed them my glasses, the guys mentioned they were hungry. The girl said it would take a little bit, and so we walked next door to Taco Bell. While in line, I was my staring straight ahead was aimed right at some local thug's girl. He came up starting his machismo ritual. I heard my buddies saying "oh sh** he is talking to you Mike". About that time the girl shows up to hand me my glasses. As she grabbed my hand to put my glasses in em, she tells me she felt that I really could use them to order, and that I could pay her for the replacement ear prong when I got done eating. When I put my glasses on, there was this little thug scratching his head.

I agree w/ whoever said the guy was probably on meth. And in that case, you probably couldn't have taken him. I bet he even had his van stocked w/ guns, as meth addicts are wont to do.

The last time I got in a fight was in the 5th grade (20 years ago?). I gave a girl a bloody nose after a particulary brutal round of dodgeball.

Cycleprincess, I had a similar event at a bar where a guy asked me to play foooooseball (not sure how that one is spelled) w/ him and some other people. For pete's sake, they just needed a 4th person; I hardly even talked to the guy because we were too busy playing. Boy was his girlfriend pissed. She didn't ask me to go outside, but she did drag her boyfriend away, talking smack about me the whole while. Why didn't he ask her to play? Lunatics, all of them!

lol, I get it Dan

If he was on meth/crack/whatever you could not have taken him. I am telling you now, there is no way you can take a guy who is high.

The body has a series of natural defenses to help keep itself from getting hurt. Pain is one, there is also a series of blocks to keep the muscles from being used at their full potential. This is because when a muscle flexes as hard as possible it can break the bone it is attached too. PCP/LSD/Meth/Crack/etc. remove those natural barriers and make the user much stronger and almost immune to pain.

Last time I got into a fight, it wasn't so much me fighting as me breaking it up.

My friend got into an arguement with one of those wannabe ganster kids that hang out at the local theater. I don't remember what they were saying but they were both pretty mad. The usual male stuff, posturing, flexing their arms, pushing each other. Well, the ganster kid pulls out a small knife. This was not a good idea on his half. My friend promptly grabs his wrist and slams it into an iron bench next to them. The kid dropped the knife and as my friend was moving in to beat the living daylights out of him, me and another friend grabbed him(my friend) and held him down.

The gangster kids friends called the police and tried to tell them that we had started it. Haha jackasses, too bad we had about 100 witnesses saying that he pulled the knife first and tried to assault my friend. My friend did have to pay for the hospital bill though, turns out he broke some fingers and the kids wrist when he slammed his hand into the bench.

One of my ex girlfriends was extremly cautious with me around other chicks. One time I was sitting, eating my food at school when a freind (a chick) walks up and sits next to me and starts talking to me. Then...it happened...my girl saw me...and her talking to me....my reaction was exactly this "oh dear christ shes gonna ******' kill me". But instead she told the girl next to me to move or be moved. Thank god I broke up with her. I think I would have had no other lady friends if she was still around.

Jumped at an ATM by some Crips...or Bloods. Like I said, it was 1990 and I was 24.

Odd thing, I never felt the stab wound until I crawled back in my car. I thought to myself, "who's blood is this" which is the last thing I remember before waking up in the hospital. Also, if you ever get your face broken you can pinch your nose and mouth closed and when you exhale you can blow up your face like a puffer fish.

crackheads and tweakers have to breathe, simply cut off the air supply, i have put crackheads & tweekers straight to sleep with modified figure 4 holds and with hard strikes to several pressure points, never came in contact with anyone on pcp though, but had been told it works on them as well...
