Nah.....it's only a cat 2 and predicted to be much south of Tampabay area. Those south of Florida on West coast should consider it though.

- i keep 8 gallons of water on hand at all times...

- two generators; one for the fridge/fans/TVs, another for medical equipment...

- batteries in stock; numerous flashlights; extra gas for vehicles; cooking fuel and stove; MREs and dry foodstuffs; gallon of bleach; guns and ammo for looters

- and a couple bikes for spare vehicles...

Relatively.....we get them in FL all the time, as you've seen, but to be in the "direct path" can be a scary thing. I've never seen major damage from being in the direct path of one.

Although...we did have a tornado go through my neighborhood when I was a kid. It destroyed nearly every house in the 'hood (except ours).

can't imagine what that looked like..

... actually, was it something like: when you went outside after it was over, everything was leveled to the ground and only your house was standing tall in the midsts of the chaos?

I honestly don't remember specifics like that. I was about 3 1/2, so the memories are a bit vague.

I remember a few of the 'stories' though. My uncle and aunt lived behind us, their mobile home came up off the ground and back down on the side (wall) on top of the steps that went through the wall (now floor). Yes, they were in it at the time, but they were ok.

The neighbor, my baby sitter (teen at the time) had no idea there was a tornado. She said she was walking down the hall in their mobile home drinking a glass of coca-cola and the wall came right off the house beside her. She said it peeled up just like the top of a sardine can.

My dad had us on the floor in middle of living room with a blanket laid over top of us. It was he, me and my mom (who was pregnant with my little brother at the time).

Is it for sanitizing drinking water?

We don't get hurricanes in the Midwest but do get plenty of tornadoes. Not sure which is worst. The total and complete destruction dropping out of the sky with out warning of a tornado or the shear scale and waiting involved with a hurricane.

Been close to a couple of tornadoes but never the direct path.
