Having my new heating & cooling system installed right now.

My old furnace & air conditioner is over 20 years old. The heat exchanger on the old unit is cracking. Not to mention both are very, very inefficeint. I am tired of seeing my money to heat go up & out of the chimney, this is the way the old unit vents. To give you an idea on how old the furnace is, the filter is called a hammock style that uses filter media that comes in a roll. That type has not been manufactured for at least 10 years.

So today C.W. Suter, one of the Lennox dealers in this area, is here installing my new system. The new furnace is 94% efficeint & the A.C. condenser is a 14 seer. I will also have a new digital thermostate installed as well. The new unit is a direct vent & I opted for the humidifier & space guard air cleaner, I'll only have to change the filter once a year versus every month. Before rebates from both Lennox & Mid-American Energy the cost is about $5,900. After rebates I thing it will be around $4,000. Not bad for the Cadillac of heating & cooling systems.

Lennox does cost more then most other brands, but they are the best & they are built right here in Iowa at the plant in Marshalltown, where both my parents are from originally. So not only am I spending my money locally instead of going to a dealer outside of Sioux City it I am also spending it on a company here in Iowa as well.

THat's odd, Lennox was the cheapest when i did the exact same thing you are doing 5 years ago.
