PC sound recorder

Does anyone know of a free, respectable sound recorder download on the web? I want to transfer some audio tapes to my computer. Thanks.

Okay, you are my new, favorite RedHairedScot(and I know lots of 'em...well, um, not really lots, I guess...definitely more than one, tho, I think). Anyway, don't know if that the best you can get for free, but it definitely suits my purposes. Thanks, dude!:D

If you've got a CD burner, there should be a recorder pgm with it. Al least with NERO there is. It records as a WAV file, allows you to tweak it and clean the recording up, then converts to MP3.

I use NERO, cuz that's what mine came with, but the recorder is pay-to-play, so to speak. Gotta pony up some dough to activate it now. Well, to do it legally.... I didn't realize I had it until the free trial had expired. So far, Audacity has been very easy to use and perfect for my limited needs(editing MP3's).

Windows PC? click on Start / Programs / Accessories / Entertainment and clicking on Sound Recorder. ...

I dunno how long? Maybe only 60 secs? If so, than try Windows Movie Maker, part of XP. Should be limitless there.
