I have an old Honda beater station wagon that I use for commuting, and this morning when I got into it, someone had opened the glove box and dumped the contents on the passenger side floor. Not a big deal, because I keep nothing in there, which is why I leave it unlocked.

But, while I was scraping ice, I stumbled across a high-end car stereo faceplate, laying on the ground. Kenwood, with Sirius radio and the works. I'm figuring the thieves dropped it while going through my car. So I filed a police report, hoping whoever had the faceplate stolen will do the same and I can get it back to them.

Wow, at first I thought you meant someone shot your car.

I leave my car unlocked as well. I'd rather have would-be thieves open the door, rummage around, and find nothing of value than smash the window to reach the same conclusion.

Hopefully, whoever had their radio stolen will reclaim it.

Hondas attract thieves like flies to turd.

My mom got her Honda Accord stolen once (from the Post Office parking lot in broad daylight) and got it back a week later. They drove it to a field, rolled up the windows and filled it with weedsmoke, using it as a giant bong pipe. My friend says they "Hot-Boxed" my mom's car.

The only thing missing from the car were the speakers, since they wanted to fill up all cavities within the car with smoke. My mom had to smell weed residue in the upholstery for weeks.

You're lucky. Sometimes when thieves find nothing in your car they'll leave you a "present" on the seat. That can give a hwole new meaning to the term "Hot Boxing."
From Craig's List: IF its a singlespeed that means----all the other parts are broken cut off and dumped...dont buy singlespeeds, the bikes will make your balls fall off

That is my rationale as well, and also to make it a more attractive target than my nice car, which is always locked and alarmed.

Well mine is a total POS. I can't see why anyone would even notice it.

That pic is of the non-smashed side too.

Well, since you're practically throwing it away, I'll gladly release it from your burdens

Actually, I don't know about your model/year, but a lot of older Hondas get stripped for parts to be resold, since they remain so popular.

The 'import tuner' fad of recent years have created a demand for Honda parts.
Also, older Hondas are one of the easiest cars to steal.

Same thing happened to us a month or two ago . We forgot to lock the car and it was parked outside our house on the street. Overnight, someone *****d through all the stuff in the glovebox (dumped out contents on the passenger seat) and finding nothing, stole my girlfriends cell phone charger (WTF!) but left the money in the ashtray (like $20 in ones) and the coins in the coin box.

Thank God it was the one time that we didn't leave the 40 Gig IRiver media player by mistake in the glove box. That would have royally sucked.

Probably a crime of opportunity, some idiot was walking by trying car doors and ours was unlocked.

Was pissed off for some time but figured I got lucky. Now I'm paranoid about locking it.
