I'll always remember it happened on a Monday night because I heard the words "Dead on Arrival" from Humble Howard Cosell during "MNF" from my TV in my dorm room, which I had on solely as background noise while studying for a horrible cost accounting exam my junior year at Wisconsin...

I was 20 , Lennon was only 40.

Any other geezers here remember what they were up to?

I was 9 years old, had just gone to bed, and was listening to my radio when I heard the news. I jumped out of bed and went to the living room to tell my dad, who is a big Beatles fan. He was upset.
Coincidentally, I related this story to my wife earlier this evening while we were out to eat. The music at the restaurant was all Beatles and Lennon tunes tonight.

I was 19. My band played a lot of Beatles tunes. I was a big deal for me.

Yeah, I used to play acoustic guitar (this was my pre-shred hair-metal days that followed in the 80s) for the guy who wrote articles for the student paper and while it was all easy, those songs are beautifully written and timeless.

I recall playing "And I Love Her", "I've Just Seen a Face", "Should Have Known Better" and the Dylan-esque 'You've got to Hide Your Love Away".

Ah, the good ol' days before rap...

I was at my girlfriend's apartment. My friend, who was a big Beatles fan, called me in tears with the news.

(I share the same birthday as John Lennon, btw)

I had just come home from work after a day in class. I'll never forget the feeling when I first heard.

John rode a bike? hmm... Guess he couldn't have been all that bad.

Not to sound insensitive or lacking of knowledge, but what year did he die again? I honestly don't know. I never spent much time following rock bands. Yeah, I guess I really do live under a rock.

Oh, it's been that long? Man, time flies. I do remember it happening when I was a kid. but I was only 10yo. I spent more time riding my bike, shoveling *****, baling hay, and milking cows. Oh well.

Or better yet, plus a bajillion.

I don't remember Lennon, the first thing I remember is the Challenger disaster.
