Things to do in Dallas? Food? Drink?

I'm going to get sent to Dallas on business for maybe two weeks next weekend..... I've never been there and know little about the city. Any recommendations on places to get a good meal or kick back for a drink?

I won't have much time to sight-see, but wouldn't know what to look for anyway...

Ideas?

Theres no need for that. Just go to the Mustang ranch (I think its in Dallas, please tell me if I'm wrong). It will cost you, but the hookers are all clean.

If they take Monopoly money for dances and drinks, I'm there.... if not... well, I'll just buy a bottle of something potent and fall asleep the old fashioned way.

Isn't Dallas in a dry county?

EDIT: Apparently it's partially dry

Generally if you want nice stuff go north/west. Good malls are galleria especially(lbj and dallas n. tollway) and northpark mall(northwest highway/75). Close places to go would be like west village and mockingbird station but theyre boring. Knox st off of 75 is cool but its really gay there. Yeah like what merton said, the jfk thing is very cool.
If you want to party and sweet clubs go to lower greenville ave. and meet some babes. If you want upscale restaraunts, the mansion on turtle creek is prolly one of the best. Also 3forks, silver fox, chamberlins, the keg, and del friscos. If you like regular chain places try: On the border(mexican), california pizza kitchen(pizza, salad, pasta), maggianos(italian), blue mesa(texmex), uncle julios!(mexican),
Other than that why not go to Fort worth The downtown part is called sundance square and its really fun and western. Oh and if you go north on 75 to richardson, go to Richardson Bike Mart. Lance A. use to go there when he was little. If you go down oaklawn or lemmon ave, you can see exotic car dealorships. Highland park village is really nice. And if your majorly bored and want to leave dallas go one county north to plano/frisco or west to grapevine southlake or colleyville Southlake town center is really cool!! There is also grapevine mills as a cool mall. Have fun!

The track is really cool!!!! We all started to slide down the huge steep angle part but when i went down, the wood ripped my back left jean pocket

For food check out the http://www.pappasbros.com/ourmenu.html.
For strip clubs there are some wild places. One place, (cant remember the name) had like 7 stages going at once. Be sure to go to at least one place that will give you a "ones kick back" on dinner so you can expense the entertainment.

I never thought that I would like dallas. But it was a blast for a week or two.

For bars, music, tattoos body art/piercing and other cultural highlights, check out the Deep Ellum part of town.
http://www.ondaweb.com/deep_ellum/

Package stores on every corner.

Dont forget to rent a corvette or a pickup. Use the bike-through at Sonic and buy yourself some picalos.

Oh yes there is one book store and one starbucks.

The Mustang Ranch is in Nevada, dingleberry (the only place in U.S. where prositution is legal as far as I know).

I spent a week in Dallas a few years ago. I honestly don't remember anything that was "waaay cool" or anything. From my vague memories:

1. The Ranch where the TV show Dallas was filmed. Quite lame, I thought...but I hated the show too (only went there for gf at time to see).

2. A series of statues of bronze bulls to simulate a stampede. Its near downtown IIRC. I actually thought they were pretty cool.

3. Dallas Museum of Art (or something like that). Not a bad museum....some nice works in there if you have even a small "art buff" bone in your body.

Take an early morning ride and then visit the Kidd Kraddick in the Morning radio show. If you show up on your bike, Big Al might go ride with you -- he's an avid cyclist.

Have fun.

Yeah, just don't ride on the road down there; the drivers are psychotic. Fortunately there's a number of decent bike paths.

Otherwise, the best thing you can do in Dallas is... leave!

That's what I did.
