Good morning,

I have been searching for a new job (current dispatch posistion looks like it might take a dump), that works 32 - 40 hours per week making approximatly 9 - 10 per hour swing and grave (this is in addition to sub teaching... hey I need benefits and to save money.

I found several companies and each has given me job offers. Both jobs include benefits, 40 hour workweeks, one is 9.15 per hour starting, one is 10 per hour starting. BTW I have all my certs already. Both offer Kiaser or other health covereage providers (vital for what I am going through), and pay would be around 1100 per month, in addition to maybe 1500 - 2000 k sub teaching.

I know it is going to be hard, but I want to move out soon (in 6 months) and even 2500 - 3000 clear per month would sure be nice! Of course that is effectivly working 2 full time jobs and taking a few classes on the side (It would probably be more like working 30 hours and subing 4 days). Is it worth it? I am about to take one of the offers.

Plus the job is fairly androgious and that is a plus! - And I already have guard card, baton, pepper spray, defensive training, tazer and firearms training... all paid for by my current job... they screw me over I get back... wow I should like a vendictive b***h!

Opinions?

Mandy

I think you should look a little harder for something that pays a bit more. Back when I was your age I worked as a "computer operator" on a mainframe computer. They ALWAYS have night shifts......the pay would be a little better.

My experience from that job was with security guards......I found that 90% of them were just a little "off-kilter". I don't want to sterotype......but it really was in the 90% range.

Termite...

We are not talking a rest of my life job, just something for a few years that will give me BENEFITS - worth about 200 dollars per month - that is over 1.50 approx per hour in benefits alone - 11 dollars or so per hour. It is easy money...

Well you asked for opinions.......I can only go with MY experiences. Sounds to me like you've already made up your mind....and just want some yes-men to confirm your decision. I'm only giving my opinion based on my experiences.

Are you asking because you want us to say yes or because you want us to say no?

Not that I'm trying to be awkward here but how would you feel if we all said one thing or all said the other?

I'm curious. You mentioned substitute teaching. Do you have a degree? If so, in what?

BS in Chemistry now, BS in biophysics in a few months.

Will hopefully be in a local internship in a few years.
