International prepaid calling card advice

I'd like to call a friend in Italy from the US - any recommendations on calling cards? Sites that reviews products, compares rates and prices, etc.? Just trying to get some unbiased user opinions.

Thanks,
Dave

I use Skype for all my international calls. I have a slow broadband connection (512K) and I've had no problems calling all over the world.

Here are the Skype rates in USD:

Be very careful when buying prepaid calling cards, especially ones that cater to international calling. Many cards advertise a low per-minute rate but charge a high connection per call charge. Some charge a monthly service charge after the first time you use the card. Some expire after a certain period of time.

I always tell people to stay away from buying no-name cards at convenience stores. They are the ones that cause the most complaints.

Oh, I've got a recommendation. I'll shoot you a PM in a couple of minutes once I've gotten the information I use. I call Italy regularly and cheaply.

I like the net2phone cards well enough - but there IS a connection fee (I think). When choosing a card, you wnat to figure out what kind of calls you make most often - if you tend to make long calls, a card with a connection fee but very low per-minute rates is best; if you make lots of short calls, a higher rate without a connection fee might be better. Of course, a very low rate and no fees would be even better for both - but that's really hard to find
