My wife has an interview coming up. She just graduated with her Marby degree. The position would be at a fishery in San Marcos, TX. The two reasons I'm excited are 1. This job would be in her field of choise, and 2. the location. Is it wrong that I'm more excited than my wife?

P.S. Any good luck, karma, or positive energies sent my wife's way would be greatly appreciated.

Good luck to her! My fingers are crossed! And no, you are not wrong to be excited. Only good could come from this.

San Marcos is a University town between Austin and San Antonio. Its right at the start of the Hill Country, I'll be alot closer to some quality dirt riding. As for a fixed gear/single speed scene, I might be the only one (again). Could always ride my fixie in Austin. San Marcos during the summer is one of the hot spots for river tubing. Oh, and I could finally get a degree. SWT(that is what I'll always call it) is known as having a good educational dept.

Good luck, for her on the interview. But, save the celebration for after the job has been nailed.

If I was going to move to another place in Texas, I would not mind moving to San Marcos. I hope she gets the job if that is what you both really want, Mike!

Is she going to make enough cash that you can stay home and ride everyday? If so, i can understand your excitement.

Congrats, I personally HATE san marcos, there is nothing to do there but Austin is only 20mins away. So c'mon up and we'll ride the Greenbelt.

Sorry for the late reply pcastlouis. This is the best answer I can give you, she would prefer working with fish all day. Be it in the lab or out in the field.

When I think of fish, San Marcos, Texas just leaps to the front my brain. I hope she gets the job and you both are happy.

There are some fresh water species that are indiginous to san marcos only.
Very good diving there (we sometimes take students there), have to
be certified by fisheries dept, or univ to dive there and then you have
to do so much research a year.

maybe I'll see y'all down there.

In your diving trips there, have you seen the big ol Plecostomus? During the summer my wife did an internship at the fishery in San Marcos. (Same one she is interview at in a couple of days.) She said that at the river, she saw some huge Plecostomus at the river filters.

I haven't been yet. . . (he says sheepishly)
the dive shop has used san marcos for winter
open water before I started teaching here
we are going to start running some trips down there
hopfully this year.
I mostly stay up here in the local lakes or lead
trips to Cozumel during hurricanes.
Plan on doing San Marcos this summer tho
There's a big ol' pleco in the tank at the dive shop!
