I got 100 touches!

I achieved the fabled number 100 in my soccer tally of straight touches (ball juggling..) today. I still cannot believe I burnt out on 100, though.

I just needed to tell someone.

Hey, thats great. You have talent, obviously. I have to admit, though, that the title of the thread threw me a bit. Several thoughts went through my head, and not all of them pleasant...

Wow!! 100 touches? That's amazing.

I've never been a soccer player, but when I tried to do that thing as a kid, I never got past about 10.

Nice. You wouldn't think there'd be such a psychological barrier to hitting 100. As you get close the thought "I can't mess up now" throws you off. I think I hit 98 twice before I made it...then when I finally did, I went straight on to 120-something.

I know what you mean. For some reason your mind starts panicking just short of your goal. So I know I now possess the skill, maybe I should set my sights on 200 touches and get to 150, eh?

Sounds good to me

after a while, you'll do thousands in your sleep, its quite easy, i had way too much time as a kid living in ireland, and a lot of it was spent juggling balls.

i could probably do at least 100 balancing on one foot, juggling with the other never touching the ground.

try running around a whole soccer field without it touching the ground, you'll find its pretty easy and you can actually run at a pretty quick pace

Keep on working at it!!

edit: forgot to say, congratulations!

That's cool. I play keeper in an adult league. I was raised in a very baseball-centric family, so my eye-hand coordination was developed far more than my eye-foot coordination.

I always enjoy watching someone who has the ability to control the ball, with their feet, (unless of course, they are coming toward me in a game ).

Good job. Keep it up.

heee heee.. you wouldnt want me coming at you in a game, i am known to have a "cannon" of a shot. It's been clocked at 122km/h once

edit: i should say 122km/h is when the ball was at a standstill, not sure what i'd get if the ball was rolling towards me, im sure another 20km/h anyway

Good work, kid! I got to see Chelsea play Brighton in 1983. Never seen quite so many inebriated people in one place at the same time. Good fun.

Cheers.

Yep. My hands are not what you'd call easy-on-the-eyes. My fingers have been broken so many times, there are odd bends and enlargements at the knuckles. I've always been one that will take the broken bones, as long as I keep the ball out of the net; what sucks is getting my hand on one, hearing the fingers snap and then having it still skitter into the goal.

Oh I've stopped plenty of people like you with nothing but my sturdy abs...and one time with my nose only two weeks after breaking it. I call those my "stupid moments."

*looks at hexagon/pentagon pattern on stomach and grimaces*

I can do you one worse......2! But I haven't played in an organized league since I was about 7, so I'm not complaining.

Well done! How long does it take to do that? About 2 1/2 minutes?

I have thought of that before. I really don't know, but it can't be very long. I think I probably make 2 touches to the second (roundabouts) so that would make, let's see, 75 seconds or 1 1/2 minutes.

Doesn't seem like much when the world record is 19 hrs, does it?
