Question for the dudes, to jock or not to jock?

Mostly been a mountain biker but am putting more and more road miles in the last few years. Never had a problem keeping the boys in place riding but since riding on the road a lot more, seem to have to adjust the boys in the chamois more. They seem to move around more and, excuse the visual, have to pull everything up every now and then when on the road bike. Usually wear only baggies with built in chammy while mtn biking and have no problem. I also generally like very minimal padding. Feels like I'm riding with a diaper with some brands. Zoic and Cannondale shorts seem to be the most comfortable.
Could it just be the different riding position on the road bike making them move around or has the effect of 36 years of gravity making everything hang lower making a difference? Seems like the jock might cause some chaffing down there.

Don't wear a jock strap, are you kidding!! With the lycra, you already walk around with a bulge down there....

Try another brand of shorts. I like my DeMarchi shorts since they use the same chamois as Assos, which are much more expensive shorts. The chamois is pretty wide and comfortable, but of course YMMV

OK Here's my take...

The fit has to be snug in the middle of the crotch (directly between your legs, behind your balls). That prevents them from coming down and getting in between your legs so they get shoved around as you pedal (not comfortable). In order to be snug there, it usually has to be snug around your butt (pull 'em up far enough in the back). In doesn't have to be super-snug in the front, but if it isn't snug enough you'll get some chafing as Mr. Johnson wanders around.

Too large shorts won't be tight enough. Too SMALL shorts, ironically, also won't be snug in the middle because they'll be stretched too much and you'll get an open area there.

I haven't tried a lot of shorts/tights, but the ones I've worn are usually most comfortable if I make an "adjustment" shortly before getting on the bike, because your position while walking causes your guys to be in a bad position when pedalling. But once in position they'll stay there.

Dolphins have it right. Everything tucked inside nice and neat unless you're actually using it...

I like my stuff down there, even if it has a mind of it's own! No GID(? was that the right medical term) in my house. Wifey likes my ugly parts.
And because I'm too lazy to find all the other posts again I wanted to reply too......
Congrats on the job, I'd bulge in all the wrong places if I worked there, and the bag choice looked pretty good. And your hot or not pic. Don't worry about it, just take a better one. Honestly, the one you posted would remind most guys I know of their psycho ex-girlfriends who've turned into man hating lesbians and cut all their hair off. The angle was all wrong. Of course, we are generally the reason they went nuts in the first place.
We've all seen much better pics of you in the forum. Your avatar with the pink toes would probably work for at least a 7 or 8!
If I missed anything else, like I said, having a lazy day.
