Cripe. That's a lot of work for a drunken Tuesday night. Or Wednesday morning, however the case may be.

It seems to be "the" new way to meet people. I know TONS of people who have met "the love of their life" on them. I've had some fun dating from there a few times. Go for it, dude!

I knew an older woman who met her husband that way. She met some losers first of course. So I'd have to say it's not all bad. I have never tried it myself as I got married straight out of college.

I debated trying it for the friends aspect. But the problem is there are almost no normal people, at least on the one or two sites I checked. An entry from a guy "Looking for a friend to wax my butt, no romance" really doesn't seem like something I'm interested in following up on.

Well would you say that we on BF are normal? (Ha! not me ) There are a couple of people I wouldn't mind meeting for a ride. A group ride, that is.

i've done it and i met a lot of people. just take it all with a grain of salt and never take it personally if someone flakes out. they are all vitural strangers afterall. that said, i made a really good friend out of it - we've been friends for over 2 years now. oh, and also, i met my current GF on an internet personal. we're moving in together next month. so, it worked really well for us.

Life is a risk so with that said, take a risk cause you never know whats going to happen. Plus its not much different then meeting someone in a bar. Yeah, you get to see them first but you still don't know who they are.

The future Mrs. Cuda2k and I met on the Yahoo Personals. Had some not so great experiences with them before I met her, but as others have said - got to roll with the punches a bit. The only thing I really remember is that it seemed that some girls had a very broad sense of the term 'average' when it came to body type. That or mine is too narrow.

For what it's worth, my fiancee contacted me first on the Yahoo Personals. We kicked it off right away and it's been pretty smooth sailing for the last 3.5 years. We even have survived several years of major long distance relationship.

I don't know. I guess it's just that "anonymous" feeling, you know?

This guy that is a vendor at my work used to always ask me out. I would always tell him no, then he would ask again 2 weeks later.

For a while he didn't come to work. Then one day I read in the paper how he lured a girl on the internet into meeting him and she got scared and told her mom. He got busted, and his motel room he rented had duct tape, leather straps, rope and drugs in it. He is now on Megan's law, and he's back at work, still asking me out.

I guess I just thought of that when you posted. Sorry. That will always be in the back of my head. I'm not saying that you're like that, no way. I just think of him every time I hear "internet dating".

that's why you always meet at a neutral public place first. like a coffee place or something. i don't see it as any different than striking up a conversation with another stranger. it may seem weird to someone who hasn't done it - but it's really become quite commonplace now. almost all my friends have tried it at one point or another.
