Way O/T; difference b/w documented and undocumented flood prone areas?

Yeah, I know, real shot in the dark here. Can't find anything other then a blurb here or there, but I need to know the difference. If not, I gotta get in touch with the USGS...

I don't know 'fer shure' but I think a documented flood plane is an area that has actually experienced flooding due to severe weather. For example Burlington, NJ back in the 50's, when the Delaware came over its banks ant the city got flooded out to Rt 130. or more recently Easton, PA when the got hit by the river crests a couple years ago.

Undocumented would be an area that's in the 500 year projection area, but has yet to be actually flooded.

Does this help at all: http://www.theamericansurveyor.com/P...vember2004.pdf

Thankyou, thats good enough for me! Interesting article, and the lady who wrote it has the same name as one of my professors who's a landscape architect, wondered if they're related.
