Some of you might know that I bought some soccer cleats recently. Two weeks ago, actually. The thing that's bothering me is that they are not yet broken in, and after two weeks one begins to worry. The cause of the problem is that the padding in the heel bucket of the shoe does not go down far enough, and my poor heel gets sore and blistery. When that happens I can't play, and when I can't play I'm not happy......you get the point. One solution is to dish out $50-100 and buy some cleats that I know have this extra padding (all adidas). I don't have the on hand cash to do that right now, and even if I did, I'm not sure I would.
Interestingly enough, one solution comes to mind that is related to bikes! I was trying to find some type of high density elastic foam.....and guess what I found in my cupboard?
Bar tape. It fit's all the criteria; elastic, will retain it's original size(for a while, at least); it cushions well. Think about it; the tape is meant to take pressure and wear from our hands, so why not feet? My plan is to put some small strips of tape where the padding is nonexistent. I did a small test run this morning, but my blisters had not healed enough, so I can't wait to see if it works!
So I'm pretty excited about that. Any other ideas and/or suggestions on what course to take? I'm open to all.
