the Aussie hamburger from a fish 'n' chip shop, complete with optional egg and beetroot, used to be the big thing, but we've had McDonalds since the mid '70s, and Hungry Jacks, etc, for ages.

at least Dennys died a natural death

Only if you eat the KKs and drink the Starbucks. (Actually I like the coffee but I can make a whole pot cheaper than they can sell me a cup.) You probably already had both donuts and coffee before these guys moved in. The homoginization of the world marches on. It's a durn shame on many levels.

What is this "natural death" that Denny's died there?

we had heaps on them about 15 to 20 years ago, but now there's none, at least here in Victoria.
They just petered out

Most places I've lived they would become Chinese or Indian restaurants. What happened to the old properties?

Haha...you poor fools.

By the way, you should check out some of the cute pets we have over here. The best are rabbits. I think they'd be a big hit over in Australia! If you don't like cute little furry things, how about our toads?

Krispy Creme are dying like flies in Canada. Too much sugar and they can't compete with Tim Hortons.

Krispey Kreme was the best thing for about a year. Now, I'd rather eat a fat, fluffy, regular donut.

It's cheaper than beef at the moment. Taste is stronger than beef steak but milder than venison IMO. The meat is very lean, needs to be cooked rare.

If you tried a tin of dog food it's likely to contain roo meat!!!

Do you remember that story from about 2-3 years ago in the north-east... New Jersey I think. Some cops got busted for taking the police helicopter on DONUT RUNS!!! They'd fly to the Krispy Kreme, land in the parking-lot across the street. One guy would run out and grab a baker's dozen, hop back in and they'd take off. Ended up having to reimburse the department for the operating costs of the helicopter on those runs...

Hmm, let's see...Dunkin Donuts has better coffee that Starpukes, better donuts that Greasy Kreme, and costs less. Not to mention, no waiting in line behind an indecisive, self-absorbed, "venti-chai-latte-non-fat-froth-a-thon" dweeb, who brought his laptop and/or Architectural Digest to a coffee shop. I'd say the Aussies have gotten the short end of the stick.
