It could be completely removed for all I care. That would probably be for the best.

Today is the 2nd time I ever looked at my post count.
Again the only reason I looked, is cuz its being talked about and it peaked my curiosity.

Otherwise I couldn't care less

I don't care about my post count at all, and if I did, I'd prefer to have less posts, rather than more. (Too many posts = no life?)

I only have 1.2 posts a day, don't have a life, I'm not working right now, don't have a girl friend, and I'm not riding my bike. What's wrong with me?! I don't think school is taking up that much of my time.

yes. Now by yes i dont mean that you should at all costs do everything to make your post count number higher. I realize that its bad to have people posting just to post and not contributing anything.

but it is a useful tool, even if it were to not be made public i want to know how many posts i have.

I said it before, I'll say it again--I don't care how many posts that I, you, he, she, or they have. I'll gladly sell mine to the highest bidder...

Thanks for starting this thread, KT. Its the only one I've seen today that is worth responding to, with the exception of the sticky on the top of the page. Not that the mods have seen fit to appropriately address any of the arguments made there, mind you.

I use it to compare myself to, if im in a discussion with someone it doesnt hurt to know if he has made like 20 posts on bike forums and is a real newb or is someone who has 13 posts per day for years.

now there have been plenty of threads talking about peoples post counts and who had high ones, alittle bragging was involved but i dont think thats necesarily a bad thing.

I find the page very interesting

I just don't see how post count can determine if someone is a newb. If they only have 20 posts, they are probably new to bikeforums, but that certainly doesn't mean that they don't know anything about bikes.

Does that add validity to their opinions?

What does this say about members like MsVicki? She's been with us for years, yet posts very little. When she does it's either a very profound or entertaining contribution. How does someone who is relativly short member time, yet posts their ass off with nonsense have more esteem than she?

MERTON has 7887.

Are you really going to trust their word about anything bike-related?
