Lance will always be a prick with women...

...because none of them can measure up to his superhero mom. Agreed?

Having read both of Lance's books, I have come to the conclusion that the ********* has a habit of ****ing with people to see what they are made of.

This "hazing" includes doctors, teamates, director sportifs, wives, and girlfriends.

He's such a martyr for cancer yet he kind of made light of the breast cancer that his almost second wife to be Sheryl Crow had...

Kind of reminds me of what Julian Lennon said: "Dad was always singing about peace and love, yet he ignored his first born son..."

OK, I have my asbestos on. You can flame all you want, but the bottom line is that while Lance is the most worshipped cyclist of our generation, he is also an azzwhole, and that's OK-most superstars are.

People in Minnesota thought that the late, great Kirby Puckett was a saint, but he was not in reality...things are not always what they seem. The police mug shots of him after he beat up his wife went against his gung-ho "I love the game" image....

You never know what goes on with celebs - That's why they hire spin doctors...

I know Linda Armstrong Kelly. She is a first rate classy intelligent interesting woman. I really hate to comment on Lance and his relationships. I've never met Lance but the pressure of being of celebrity would make a relationship difficult. Esp. if your girlfriend is a rock star. I think he's pulled in a about 40 different directions constantly. Its difficult living under the microscope but its the price of success.

Spincitycycler will always abuse small children - you can tell that from his posts.

Oh, that doesn't make sense either?

Pull a few more celebrity observations out of your ass and share them with us, won't you?

Bottom line is that Lance, like many other athletes, have become famous due to their physical prowess. Not their personality.

Lance is probably a bit off an A$$, and arrogant. But to achieve the level he has, it is partially necessary. Top athletes generally get there due to their drive/ego/etc. Yet somehow we expect them to suddenly be different when they get thrust into the spotlight.

Personally I don't care. Lance is just another guy, albeit alot richer and well known than I am. Oh yea I think he can bike faster than me too.

People who are really driven, focused, and single minded in pursuit of a goal usually don't like to waste time with small-talk or pleasantries. And for this, they often are perceived as a-holes. Until Lance is charged with beating a woman, I wouldn't put him in the same class as Kirby Puckett. There's a big difference between being arrogant and being a woman-beater.

Sin, Everything Lance does is magnified. Put things in perspective man.

I'll bet if the press were to magnify your personal issues, report on things out of context and generally open you life to the world you may look like an A$$. But they probably wouldn't need to go that far with you.

Kristen Armstrong and Cheryl Crow both talk favorably about Lance, what the he!! are YOU talking about, where does this hate come from? I read the Armstrong SI piece, to me it sounds like he spends most of his time raising $1,000,000,000 for cancer research, including breast cancer. I hope you never need help from the LAF, even though despite your comments, I am sure you would get whatever you need! But there are many children and adults like the children on the cover of SI who use Lance for strength as they battle for their lives, why would you try to tear down their inspiration, I am embarrassed for you. This is a forum, I get that, but this OP is so bitter and misguided reasonable discussion is not possible.

I never understood the fascination people have for the personal lives of celebrities. Sure, I like to know what drove Lance to be one og the best cyclist ever, but that is where it ends.
I could care less, about how well he treats people in his personal relationships, or how he is romantically involved. The spotlight of celebrity is always so bright that it shows all the warts and blemishes of that person.
Even though I try to live my life by being the best person possible, I am sure that if I was famous there are things in my life that i have done,(and most people in fact), that others would find unsavory.

    grandmother's wisdom

I agree, we all are a little different if we look honestly at ourselves. My grand mother used to say, "Everyone's queer but thee and me; and sometimes I think thee a little strange."

lots of generalities and untruths here.
Lance was the greatest DTF rider because he wasn't asked to ride in any classics or other early season races like the european teams.
I always chaulked up the personality conflicts in his professional dealings with a kind of 'roid rage that came from his taking his as yet undectable performance enhancers. (please don't tell me that people just think that he could do what he did on the physical prowess the good Lord gave him)

His ex was just on Oprah and blamed herself for the breakup of the marriage. That she lost herself while he just kept doing his stuff.

I can only speculate that he didn't want Cheryl Crow to undergo her treatment with the paparozzi snapping photos of them so they split (possibly that he wanted to go out and cash in on his popularity and said to himself 'i've already been through that and I don't need this again)

Kirby Puckett is a scumbag. I met him twice and he was a genuine a-hole.

**besides my personal experiences with Kirby Puckett, all the rest is speculation, not presented as fact.

Thanks to SinCityCycler for stepping out. He is entitled to his opinion. Thank you for not being a wuss and PC'ing yourself to a lovely BF post.

The worst thing about being critical or angry towards someone is that whatever you are thinking does not exist within their being, rather it exists within you. You are the one at the effect of your thoughts.

Reminds me of the old adage....Tell me my strengths, and I'll tell you your weaknesses!

Hilarious. The thing I love about Sin's comments which are mostly built on stereotypes is there is always a modicum of truth...albeit hard to find sometimes...lol. In this case Sin you may or may not be accurate.
I also am gifted with a brilliant and beautiful Mom and am hard pressed to find her equivalent so can relate at a certain level. Modeling from both parents is a natural tendency when choosing a s/o. This however can work to the opposite effect in terms of traits to look for. If anything I always have a good chuckle at what Sin writes. You guys know he is a bit tongue in cheek with what he writes to get a reaction and always good for a laugh.

Like that statement. Lance won Fleche Wallone and the Classico San sebastian. He regularly targeted the Amstel Gold race, and had several high placings. He did ride the classics. However in later years more selectively, and as part of a program obviously targeted on the TDF. Other TDF contenders emulated Armstrongs style of approaching the TDF, as he continued to be successful there. It's absurd to think he won 7 TDF's because he was focused on it, and everybody was riding too many other races.

Worry about yourself, Sin. There's enough there to keep you busy. As for conjecture about celebrities, the people who write/report it are even stupider then the people who read/watch it.
