Verizon Phones

I need a new phone and I have Verizon, I know they have crap for phones, but I still have a year with them and my phone just broke, but it's still eligible for an upgrade discount.

So what's the best overall phone that they offer?

I've heard some pretty bad reviews and some good ones, I don't know what to think of the Verizon Razr. I know it's crippled, but I don't care because I probably wouldn't use the features. I've heard bad stuff about build quality (hinges), reception and battery life. So yeah, not sure what to think of it.

The Moto E815 is suppose to be really nice, but seemed bulky when I held it.

BAH, why does Verizon have such a crappy selection of phones?

I had the V710 and the E815 is the upgrade to that model. It had a great radio - I got reception in many places my wife's phone didn't. The E815, however, is digital only, so if you travel anywhere in rural areas it might not be a good choice for you. I wound up going with the V325 hoping it has the good radio but not needing all the bells and whistles. It's also got analog, because I do roam around a bit.

Too bulky for my taste. =-) I do like Samsung though. The phone that broke is a Samsung and I loved it (A670), wish it didn't break and I could keep using it. It was small, sleek, and awesome.

I've got an LG VX3200. Very nice. Not too big, no camera, no radio...no frills at all, pretty much. I'm pretty much a minimalist when it comes to cell phones, tho.

I'm into not having the bells and whistles, BUT I do need a external display or it would drive me nuts. I wish I wasn't this damn picky.

Surprisingly, I don't miss it. I had a Samsung A310(?) before this LG, but it was a bit bulky. Plus, I got my LG free with my wife's VX7000...talk about bells and whistles! That phone's just too much. As long as I've can send and receive calls/text messages, I'm good.

Does the V325 show who's calling in the external display?

I got a Razor V3c from verizon for free about 2 months ago. It is very well built. Some of the stuff is disabled, but i got the software and connect to my computer with bluetooth, transfer pictures, etc. So I like it a lot.

And also it's really slim so you don't notice carrying it around as much.

NO NO!

Don't get a razr.

They are stupid, only thing they are good for is fads.

The pictures on it are suprisinly bad, and also the button are a PITA because its all one solid face.

Thats just my opinion though.

One phone that they currently have is this one: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/s...edPhoneId=2204 its the Samsung a950. Over all this is a very good phone. It takes really nice pictures, pretty good videos, has an external SID card if needed, plus music.

My dad has the Motorola V-710 (well actually the newer grey color version) and he loves it, its solid and works great over.

so it'll only transfer pics with bluetooth? V3m with the cable it doesn't do anything but sync contacts. which was nice so i didn't have to manually enter 'em ...

this thing is so thin i won't go back. it's good for the upg price, but i wouldn't have paid retail for it i think.

I hope it's got a radio... otherwise it's just a nice paperweight!

I've heard (and read) quite a few people say the RAZr's radio (the one that communicates with the cell towers) sucks and you pretty much have to be in a really good coverage area to have reliable calls. Anything less and your calls drop. Disclaimer: I've only tried a RAZr once and in a good coverage area, so I'm only passing on 3rd hand info. Take that for what it's worth.

Hmm, mine doesn't play music. I do like the alarm feature, tho. That thing's loud as hell.

If you set the software to "V3cm" instead of "V3c" it will add a media center thing that allows you to transfer photos.

Or so I've heard.

Try searching the forums at www.cdmaforums.com if you're interested in how to enable some of the crippled Motorola stuff. I did my Telus V710 and V3c and it worked out well. Verizon E815 can be very decrippled with a cable and some software.

Or try at www.howardforums.com for other brands.
