Tin Foil Hat

If I make a tin foil hat to keep the sun off of my radar detector, will it interfere with it? I am worried that it will overheat.

Also, please discuss any alien conspiracy theories in this thread.

That's the dumbest thing I've heard today. Why don't you just leave the damn car with the AC on.

dude, the black detector is on the black dashboard with sun shining on it all day. The car could be 40 degrees and it would still get hot.

Your car needs more AC.

Yeah I do this already, I'm wondering about during driving. I'm not sensing much support for the tin foil hat idea

what you need is air movement. put the radar detector on the roof and it'll stay cool.

Can you send me your design? I'll make one and wear it when I listen to Bush, Cheney or Rumsfeld.

My naive suspicion is that it may interfere with your detection range. After all, if you reflect away any radar signals coming at your detector, then your detector can't detect them!

In other random ramblings... Some little green men came knocking at my door last night explaining that aliens are not real. When I asked them what they were in light of their statement, they told me they're just one of us. Umm, okay, whatever.

Radar detectors have more use that just the ability to speed with impunity. They certainly don't keep you from getting tickets if you choose to speed. I'll let you figure the rest out for yourself.

I drive over 75,000 miles a year for work and pleasure and cannot think of a reason I would need a radar detector except to avoid speeding tickets.

Enlighten me plaese?

They detect radar, Palsdude....Alien craft navigate by laser guided signals.

It's a UFO warning system, silly! (This stuff really shouldn't be discussed in mixed company...)
