Ted Williams Tunnel Incident

I can't beleive there are no threads about this. Boston.com has a ton of stories on this, in case anyone wants to familiarize themselves. As a Boston area resident who has travelled that section of road many times, I can quite confidently say I will not be travelling it again.

Is this where a part of the roof fell on a car and killed a woman?

Yup, but if anyone were to creat a thread about it, it'd probably be in A&S (Driving's Dangerous!) or P&R (The Gov't is Killing People!).

One accident which unfortunately killed someone out of how many millions of passenger-trips have been made through that tunnel? Yes it sucks and its something to be addressed, but I don't think you're changing your chances of seeing another day in any measurable amount by avoiding the tunnel. You're probably just making your trips longer.

Also, it sounded like the governors office was trying to take political advantage of this incident to take control of the tunnel from the city or whoever it is that operates it, but I haven't figured out what the motivation is for doing so.

It sounds like nobody will be using the tunnel for quite a while.
