Was I being hit on?

Last week I was in a car wreck and ended up in the emergency room (nothing hurt, just overly cautious emergency responders, story here). I was waiting to be discharged and in comes one of the most stunning women I've seen in ages. She is there to get my insurance/billing info and Florence Nightingale syndrome not withstanding, she is right up my alley: black hair, blue eyes, my age, bit on the thin side, and an unadorned left ring finger.
Beautiful is usually enough to get my shy ass to clam up, but being in the emergency room/her work place, I'm stammered, lucky to answer her questions intelligibly. But here is what throws me for a loop:
Her: "You're 38 and single?"
me: "Yep, never married actually."
her: "You really ought to get out there and start dating again."
me: now reduced to nodding my head and guttural noises "......ok?"
her: "Yeah, really."
me: completely unable to respond, nods head up and down.

So, was I being hit on? I still have a shirt to return to one of the techs, and pick my car up from the body shop tomorrow, so I have an excuse to return. Do I ask her out even though I'd have to do it at her place of work, or does that just come out as an uncomfortable and creepy nightmare?

Ladies of Foo, if ya'll would be so kind, I need your wisdom.

Do you like her? Apparently you do, hence the post. Did you know it's okay to hit on her as well?

So, you will be returning tomorrow? You have no choice but to talk to her.

Do not even think about getting any, unless you want all sorts of trouble with your medical billing. If I were still 38 and single I would be leary of such an attractive woman approaching me on financial matters. A bedazzled man might say something he should not.

Don't know about that... nurses make decent bank...

her: "You really ought to get out there and start dating again.
you: "So ah... you have a boyfriend? Want a better one?

If she doesn't laugh, forget about her, no sense of humor...

Any time you have to ask yourself or others "Was I being hit on?", you were. The door was wide open...and probably still is. Cowboy-up and get yer a$$ back to the ER!

Not sure what you mean. You talking about gold-digging or embezzlement or something else?

I'm always leary of any attractive woman hitting in me, but I'm paranoid and am told that I'm pessimistic... Still, might be worth checking out.

I think part of the conversation is missing. How did she learn that you haven't been dating? Oh well, if she was hitting on you it seems a little unproffessional for her to be hitting on patients.

Gotta agree here - unprofessional. Still, does sound like she was flirting (depending on the tone) and you had a good chance to flirt in return. Go back and don't mess it up this time!

Seems like an odd place to hit on men, in the ER after they've been in an accident. Sort of a red flag to me. Too many flirts in the world.

I guess the only way it coulda been more unprofessional is if she were a nurse and she was administering an enima to you. Can you picture it? She's got the enema device engaged, and she's saying...."you know you really oughta date more. I mean it, you really oughta!"

Any heterosexual guy that complains about a beautiful woman flirting with him should have his head examined.

I do that a lot. It takes a good 15 minutes to an hour to even think about it, then I'll ask my friend is I was being flirted with, and he'll say "yes" or "no". It's like some part of my mind knows what's going on and deliberately shuts the rest out, so I end up with limited verbal capacity, but this nice feeling for a bit afterwords. Damn, I'm twenty five and I have no concious desire to date, and some unconcious desire not to...

Interesting the number of guys that responded.

Just identifying with your feminine sides, eh?

Except for hetero guys that have been caught up with a woman that seemed like a lot of fun when you first met, but three weeks later you're caught up in some weird Twilight Zone nightmare.

If you saw the same woman in any other situation, I'd say "YES!" But in that sit, its unprofessional and unethical. And I would be surprized if the hospital didn't have rules against it.

So what's up Stacey, was she hitting on him or what?

I say go back to the ER and if she's responsive, ask her out. Couldn't hurt.
