Last week I was in a car wreck and ended up in the emergency room (nothing hurt, just overly cautious emergency responders, story here). I was waiting to be discharged and in comes one of the most stunning women I've seen in ages. She is there to get my insurance/billing info and Florence Nightingale syndrome not withstanding, she is right up my alley: black hair, blue eyes, my age, bit on the thin side, and an unadorned left ring finger.
Beautiful is usually enough to get my shy ass to clam up, but being in the emergency room/her work place, I'm stammered, lucky to answer her questions intelligibly. But here is what throws me for a loop:
Her: "You're 38 and single?"
me: "Yep, never married actually."
her: "You really ought to get out there and start dating again."
me: now reduced to nodding my head and guttural noises "......ok?"
her: "Yeah, really."
me: completely unable to respond, nods head up and down.
So, was I being hit on? I still have a shirt to return to one of the techs, and pick my car up from the body shop tomorrow, so I have an excuse to return. Do I ask her out even though I'd have to do it at her place of work, or does that just come out as an uncomfortable and creepy nightmare?
Ladies of Foo, if ya'll would be so kind, I need your wisdom.
